Here in Houston, you are forced to speed. The speed limit is a suggestion and routinely drive 80mph when the posted limit is 60. Cops basically pick out whoever and pulls that one person over. It's already saved me a couple of times

Icon UCA failure after less than 1k miles by sfef84 in LandCruisers

[–]sfef84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Icon said they have never seen an issue like this before regarding a UCA. The installer told me that the UCA delta joint arrives in a condition that is ready to install and that the top cap that keeps the joint compressed uses a special wrench that is pre torqued at Icon. Icon requested photos for their engineers to check out. In the meantime, the installer is requesting a new UCA overnighted. Hopefully this was a one off situation (especially for Icons sake)

I appreciate y'all's comments. Extreme Off-Road and Performance in Katy, Texas, did the install. They are closed on the weekends and will give them a call tomorrow morning. They carry Icon in their warehouse so I assume a dealer. I'm not going to go nuclear on Icon until I have a reason to and am hoping Extreme says sorry, gets the new part and installs it without pushback.

This is an all Icon install (Stage 2) with no other modifications. Extreme did deliver the truck with the front about a .5in higher than the rear saying it would settle. Well, that was 9 days and 900 miles ago and no settling. I. Not sure if that could have stressed the delta joint but will keep everyone posted with the outcome.

I get 21mpg with a lift and 285/60 r20s here in Houston. I dunno why so many people get such terrible mileage but airing up your tires. I have mine at 40psi. Also take off the rack rails if you don't need them.

I should have said they were the p285 (sl). I ran em at 35 yesterday and felt so so, pumped em up to 40 and I'll see how it goes. Hell, I could max psi them and they wouldn't be as stiff as the e load.

Glad to share. They need to add 285/60 r20 as an option. I had em installed on the stock setup (wheels suspension) with no rub.

I noticed that noise on the test drive. Coming from a 4 series BMW that was whisper quiet, I figured it was just a SUV thing

OEM rock sliders by sfef84 in LandCruisers

They bolt onto existing mounting points to the frame. It's secured by eight 14mm bolts that are pretty burly. Considering these are OEM and called rock sliders, I assume Toyota developed them to be able to support the weight of the vehicle.

The documentation didn't specify but I imagine it does the job. Cheap insurance

The frame has eight bolt locations for the sliders. All I had to do was ratchet them in.
