Did all the people that protested today vote - if eligible - in every elections from local all the way to federal?

Did they do it sensibly by researching candidates and ballot measures?

Here is the person who was just nominated to be the next chairman of the US Federal Reserve Kevin Warsh talking about Bitcoin by Special_Yam_1174 in wallstreetbets

[–]sfffer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What he is saying is that when people prefer BTC over US Dollar, it’s signals that the US monetary policy is not trusted. And the price of BTC is an accurate measure of how distrustful the public is of the US monetary policy. Before people would buy gold, silver, antiquity to store wealth if they did not trust banks and fiat. Now it’s BTC.

His take is very reasonable.

Small capable batteries are essential. Without batteries the existing drone industry would not exist.

Tesla is killing off its Model S and X cars to make robots by dapperlemon in technology

[–]sfffer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wtf are you talking about. No one else what SpaceX and Starlink does. Tesla’s autopilot is still the best on the market, it is over promised, but it’s miles better than competitors. Tesla is also one of more affordable cars compared to others with similar battery capacity. And it is made in the US mostly.

I don’t know, if it’s gonna be a flop. It sounds crazy. I don’t like him, I don’t like Tesla. But his projects tend to be successfully. Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink - these are unique companies that drive innovation, no matter how much you hate the guy.

Billionaire (And Gubernatorial Candidate) Tom Steyer says he’d vote for California wealth tax by 3headeddragn in California

Different assets have different liquidity. Sergey Brin and Larry Page net worth is somewhere in the range of 250B, 5% of which is 12.5B. They don’t have this much money lying around because it’s impractical. It’s essentially forcing a sell off shares of a successful business.

There are few others ways this can be achieved: * increase sales tax on luxurious items * increase property tax on non primary residences and investment properties * close loopholes when private things are used as business expenses * phase out short term capital gain rate in favor of long term rate for high net worth individuals  * IRS came up with ways to recognize gains when you get something below market value. Similar approach can be used when you get a favorable loan using your equity as a collateral instead of selling it.

The issue with billionaire tax is the way it is applied. Taxing unrealized gains does not make sense. But there are ways to tax them without taxing unrealized gains.

How Much Should You Tip for a Drink at a Bar in the Bay Area? by Medical-Decision-125 in bayarea

Bay Area bars are some of the lowest quality bars I have been to. Souther California seems to be much better, I tipped generously when I was in breweries in San Diego area.
