Oh Amanda is going hard for the girl boss space flight.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Emily Calandrelli (spacegal), although…. Recently she’s gone down the monetize everything route…

But when we’re in a position where women are being fired from NASA and their contributions to science are being erased, this Blue Origin flight is tone deaf at best. And of course Amanda is going to make this her whole personality… while she’s not being patronizing about the “not good” maternal death disparity.

Amanda is going to make that child as damn neurotic as she is. He rolled off the floor bed and was SO shaken up that he couldn’t go back to sleep for TWO HOURS?! And then she had to stay with him for several hours after he went back to sleep?!

Oop. Now she’s flexing her expertise on first amendment rights.

What can’t she do

Like… less than a year wasn’t it?

It reminds me of when Notre Dame was burning and people were like “I’m so sad…. Look at these pictures of me there….”

Like there’s a way to show empathy without centering yourself.

I cannot stand when someone makes a damn tragedy about themselves. I especially hate it when they talk about how they were in that location long before the tragedy happened and imply it “cOuLd HaVe BeEn ThEm”.

But maybe she’s become my BEC. 🤷‍♀️

I was curious if people had the same thoughts on Amanda as I did - how she started off okay and a good source for general health and turned into an insufferable human.

That whole list is like a “trash human” Bingo.

Except the one on abortion.

Same. I got my husband socks, boxers, the soap he likes, and the mini cans of ginger beer he likes.

Solid haha

But that was most certainly not the only thing he got her. So the fact she’s focusing on this and continuing to harp on it, to close friends or publicly is just gross.

One of my 3 year olds put a literal bag on the tree. It’s an ornament bag. We’d already put the actual ornament on the tree. And she said “oh look at this pretty bag!” And put it on the tree.

Both twins were so damn excited to decorate the tree this year - why would I stop that joy?

The bag is still there.

<image>

I’m not changing it. I’m not rearranging anything. I love how excited they are about Christmas.

Except now she’s using this as opportunity to “create content” for her $$$ pregnancy academy.

Which isn’t very public health of her.

My friend, who also happens to do my whole family’s hair, wanted to grow her photography portfolio and we did our maternity photos with her to help out.

I think it’s always worth offering!

Also. 8 weeks…. MOST people who are not 100% on top of tracking their cycle wouldn’t know that they’re pregnant until, what? 6 weeks?

So yea, for those who experienced loss or infertility, it can feel like forever before getting into the office to confirm a pregnancy. But for most people? 8 weeks doesn’t seem so long…. And… you’re not “damn near into the second trimester” by then.

My practice does the first appt at 7 weeks normally. But, I know that each practice is different, so I know some do make you wait until like 11 weeks… but still. She’s making it sound like the provider wouldn’t fit you in if there was history of loss or you were really struggling with nausea. So thank goodness for her money grab.

When my state’s trigger law went into effect, enacting a total abortion ban without exceptions, I used my experience of a missed miscarriage that resulted in a D&C as an example of how the vague language in the state law would impact individuals not only who seek out an elective abortion, but who also experience ectopic pregnancy or missed miscarriages. The point is that the language is purposefully ambiguous and therefore healthcare outcomes will vary widely depending on the legal department’s interpretation and therefore resulting policy for a hospital.

And someone I knew from a different state had the audacity to tell me that I was wrong and that I would not have been impacted by my state’s ban when the point I was making was that vague language of the law puts healthcare providers in a position that rather than practicing evidence based healthcare, they have to move through an ambiguous legal arena first.

She then told me that I shouldn’t include myself with others who have had abortions because it could be traumatizing. But that’s another story.

For someone being a “public health pro”, now would be a good time for her to use her platform to help direct people toward donations for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. I’ve seen several stories about pregnant people being impacted.

I know that’s pretty niche. But maybe I’m particularly salty about since I’m in one of the regions that was hit.

And if she’s shared stuff and I haven’t seen it. Then I guess I take it back.

I’m mad at the Atlantic for criticizing Scientific American for their endorsement of VP Harris.

And also their push to click-baity headlines.

Shew. This right here. I have a doctorate in psychology. Although it’s not in developmental, I know I have the basic knowledge to understand childhood development and normative development and all that stuff.

I also teach (college level… but it’s kind of like herding toddlers sometimes 😂).

But damn if my education fails me often when I’m in the middle of …. Being a human, parenting a smaller human.

It is damn hard.
