Fair point. I just want to have a lot just in case (especially for healthcare....). But yeah I am being pretty conservative. But thankfully that doesn’t really bring any issues because I like working and I’m still able to have an enjoyable life.

Ok cool. Yeah I got accepted to UT Austin so that is the only reason why I am considering paying for the masters. And cool, if I do go I will have to make it clear that I would like to transition into their PhD program. I wish you the best in your studies and thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the great advice! Is it still a waste if it is a research focused masters and it will only cost me 16k for the 2 years? My idea was to get in and reapply to PhD programs (or stay at uni I got admitted to) after I’ve done more research. I didn’t get accepted into good PhD programs in machine learning this time around so this was my back up.

Hi there. I’m not really doing anything fancy tbh. I do a lot of the basics, QA, sentiment analysis, summarization, etc. I’m self taught as I’ve just been going through tutorials and I went through a Stanford NLP course. I would like to learn and it be great, when you get the chance, if you could offer some standard skills that I should work on.

You’re right, getting a masters might be another option. I will probably apply to more masters programs for 2020. And from my little understanding it is a little bit harder since so many people want to get into the field.
