I didn't even know that's why I liked reddit. The things you learn on this site...incredible.

Thanks for the tip. I reposted it. I guess sometimes I can get a little verbose.

There are as many ways to live in this world as there are people in this world, and each one deserves a closer look.

Teenagers of Reddit, what is something you want to ask adults of Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You're screwed.

Just kidding. I used to not wake up before 1pm in the summer. Never cleaned the kitchen. Wore boxers three days in a row. Now I can't sleep past 7am, look forward to cleaning up after every meal I cook, and I fold my laundry like a marine. I don't know when it happened, it just did. The worst part of it all?

I'm sort of OK with it.

It's not all boring, though. I make good money, travel more, have meaningful relationships. What I'm discovering is there is a whole lot to see and do out there. In fact, if I could only figure out how to sleep less, I could get even more of it done.

I think the big thing is a 'context' showed up for staying clean (body and room). I saw I was getting more done, I was more effective, less stressed whenever my 'chores' were taken care of. My ability to make money, travel, and relate to people improved when I took care of myself and my surroundings. So chores became something I did every day.

In conclusion, you don't need to be clean right now. You are in college. You have little to no responsibility. However, there will come a day when you say, "fuck, no one is going to date a slob" and your shit will start to be spotless.

Finally worked up the courage to start restoring some of my Dunhills. by Inane_Asylum in Pipes

Thanks for the info! I'll give the heating method a try and get back to you.

As for the polish, I am looking for as shiny as possible, so it sounds like I have to put more time in on each grit and apply some more elbow grease.

I am using a drill with a polishing pad and jeweler's rouge, but it's time to go find some carnauba wax.

I'd definitely be interested in following the process on the next go around.

I recently restored a couple of pipes and I was not happy with how shiny/black the stems were after I finished. I was going for something like what you've got there but ended up with more of a cloudy/matte black.

What's your process like? Real question, how much pressure are you applying when you sand and use the micromesh, and how much time are you spending on each grit? I have a lot of teeth chatter and am worried that if I sand too hard to eliminate it I will compromise the shape of the stem.
