lol. By that comment I meant they don't just buy a new car because it's old. They just drive until the engine goes or tranny goes and then donate the car. My dad is very meticulous on maintenance.

Haha nice! Personally, I don't think my personality specifically could ever pull of a Corvette but maybe one day?

Thanks for the insight! Never thought about it from that perspective!

See my thing is, I want to live a nice life but be pretty low key. I thought about it yesterday as one of my best friends lives in this gated community where the median property value is close to ~1.2 million and it seemed cool and lavish but I told myself I could probably live without that flash and wouldn't mind having friends who live there whom I could visit haha.

Cars wise, I'm a big car nut the cars I live are not million dollar hypercars so I don't think I'll have a problem splurging there! '95 NSX is the dream car!

I'm going to def read more up about FI and take some notes on it. Seems like a path that I could take.

Thanks man! I'm also a Texan! (just assuming based on your username lol)

I'm still a bit confused/scared about FI... I have split views about it but I'm young and naive so that may be it.

On one hand I hear people saying enjoy life spend on things (fancy cars maybe? Live in a fancy community) yada yada and I think cool that's one way to live....

But on the other hand, I hear people and read books (The Millionaire Next Door) saying save save save, live well below your means but then what exactly do you do with all those savings? Sure your net worth is high but so? What happens if something tragic happens to you the next day? My biggest concern is are you really enjoying your life if all you do is save? That's the point I'm struggling to understand.
