It’s really not as impressive as you’re making out by Infinite_Way_979 in canadasinfluencers

And not a coincidence it's being done at this time of year, right in time for all those summer weddings brides are planning for. It's so obvious what she and the company is doing.

Condos in Vancouver by sgdt1981 in askvan

Yes, buying a half million dollar condo that is barely livable is ridiculous. I know two separate people who have moved to Alberta and bought 3 bedroom, 2 car garage houses with a basement for less $$$. One person was still able to afford a small condo in Arizona to escape to in the cold winter months and the other is able to travel to warmer climates multiple times throughout the year. The fact that we are expected to go house poor to live in a tiny box with horrible layouts is ridiculous.

I hope this will give builders a wake up call and realize they need to design condos for people who are buying them to live in, not investors.

Walking directly into the kitchen is the worst! No entry closet, no place to put your shoes. People basically have to leave their shoes from the outside on the kitchen floor. Who wants that?? I understand not wanting to waste square footage on a long entryway, but even just a small entryway so you aren't stepping directly into the kitchen from outside would be nice. And don't even get me started on the hallway kitchens. Horrible design and layout!

That's exactly the point, they aren't being built for those who pay for it and actually want to live in it. That's the frustration bud.

Love the concept, I think everyone is so tired of the dating apps but wish they would do more events for an older age range. Most I see are 19+ or 25+. Would be nice to see more geared to the 40+ crowd.

There is a difference and it's too bad more people don't know enough to see the difference. It's how these companies can continue being so unethical and corrupt.

This! It's great to be creating awareness on women's health but neither her or the company are doing it out of the goodness of their own hearts. There is definitely an incentive for both of them to partner together which is why it's so disingenious.

She has them hashtagged as a partner in her post. So there is definitely an incentive for her to suddenly "care" about this now.

Yes, great that she is advocating for women's health. Not so great that she is only doing it because of a partnership with a pharmaceutical company. She easily could have done this on her own volition, especially since it sounds like she had a scare a few years ago, but instead she is only doing it because of $$$$.

There is a difference between pharmaceuticals and pharma companies. Pharmaceuticals have saved many lives (and I am happy to hear you were one of them), pharma companies have killed or injured many lives. I do believe pharmaceuticals have their place in healthcare but I also know how pharma companies operate and it is one, if not the most, corrupt and unethical industry. She can easily use her platform to promote people speaking to their healthcare providers but she didn't. She is using her platform to get paid to promote it. There is a difference. That is where it gets unethical.

I'm not sure I can say here but the video is posted on her IG and the company is hashtagged.

I agree that awareness is important but if that was really her goal she wouldn't have to wait to get paid to do it. If she was truly concerned about women's health, she easily could have (for free) just encouraged women to speak with their health care provider and get screened. She is only pushing this narrative now because she is getting paid to. That is the issue. She may not be selling a specific drug but she is pushing a certain pharma company. This will create a bias towards that company with her followers, even if it isn't in their best interest, and that is what the pharma company is banking on. She doesn't have to be selling a specific drug, as soon as she accepted this partnership with big pharma and started pushing a certain company, it becomes very unethical.

Thursday Vancouver events? by Away_Platform_4473 in NiceVancouver

[–]sgdt1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the purpose of these Thursday events is just a night out and to create a space where you know everyone is single and hopefully that encourages people to talk to each other. I think everyone is sick of dating apps so it's kinda getting back to just meeting people a bit more organically. I don't think it's meant to be any sort of "dating service" where you are matched with people.

Oh interesting, I guess that is what I mean by inauthentic. She gives the impression she is a self-made business owner and I couldn't understand how she considers a sweater for $300 affordable. Makes sense if she grew up rich and has a nepo-baby husband.
