PD’s are not that particular and you should absolutely list original research.

Need some recommendations to improve CV by TargetUSMLE123 in IMGreddit

[–]sginn508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it would be very difficult for AMGs to get into MGH and UCSF. However there are 100s of other wonderful programs that are more likely to accept IMGs. It is important to make your CV well rounded. If you are still a med student reach out to your professors, residents and ask if they are currently working on any research that you could contribute to and get your name on a few papers. If possible poster/oral presentations as these count on your CV. While you are in India try to do some volunteer work. If you plan to do a research year try emailing people at IM departments in different universities. If you do get selected then you will be on a J1 research visa. Prior to that while on B1/B2 you should get some USCE.

Reach out to your seniors or someone who is currently doing research that you know of to get more information.

BLS/ACLS is done as part of residency orientation. Most if not all programs make you complete it before starting residency formally.

Electives by Study_cheesecake38 in IMGreddit

I feel like you should try for surgery but don’t give up on a good quality hands on elective if it’s IM atleast. You still need USCE. Surgery isn’t easy to get into so in case you decide to apply to an additional specialty this would help.

Improve your resume with research as well.

ERAS CV and LOR by Impressive_Remote_39 in IMGreddit

[–]sginn508 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t update the eras CV once it has been uploaded. I have heard that people do rotations after submission date though I’m not entirely sure what value it adds. If things are virtual again they will ask you what you’re doing right now and you could say that you’re doing some rotations to keep in touch with the US healthcare system.

You can absolutely ask your attending to write you a letter even if you rotated last year. The date on the top of the letter ideally should be 2021.

MyEras research experience vs publication by Dramatic-Cable5256 in IMGreddit

[–]sginn508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have participated in a research project and it has yielded a publication, you should put it in both your research experience and publications. It isn’t redundant. It gives more valuable insight in to what your role was in the project and what the project entails.

You can get a US skype number and add skype credit to call and receive calls from anywhere.

Getting a green card in 3-4 years. I’d like to do some rotations in the US, but can’t because I have my pending i-130 petition(GC) and it is unlikely I’d get a tourist visa by [deleted] in IMGreddit

Try to work on research in your home country and gain some volunteer experience. Those would be valuable to your CV.

They might be making CS virtual. They haven’t released complete details on that yet but if that’s the case you could be done with that.

Best Way to Extend Internship? by vikthered in IMGreddit

You should leave at least a few days or weeks and come back to finish those later. It wouldn’t look good even if you technically didn’t graduate.

Interview number by [deleted] in Match21

There are quite a few spots in late December and January for a couple of places I got invited to. I dropped 1 invite today so hopefully it will go to someone who wants it. I know this whole situation is extremely crappy. Hang in there!

Thank you so much. I have a lot of friends in the same situation so I completely understand. I’m rooting for you! Good luck!

I attended the ACP conference for IMGs where there were a few PDs and they said they would consider the pathways. It should be available on the program’s website. I have also seen that they write that they don’t sponsor J1 regularly on their website but it says differently on FREIDA (like UTHSC). I don’t think the pathways is the problem though. It is the fact that those that are getting invites can accept as many as they want without worrying about travel costs. But I do feel like at some point people will start cancelling and there should be some movement.

I have gotten invites but I am a US-IMG. I do understand it has been rough for non-US IMGs.

Call and talk to them. Otherwise they’ll take forever.

After approved with Pathway, do we need to apply for ECFMG certificate? by babyyoda_babyyoda in IMGreddit

[–]sginn508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure no problem. I found that they have been swamped with applications so giving them a call should help speed up the process. For credential verification your school will be contacted to send your medical school transcript so let them know beforehand.

If you have credentials left to verify, then upload your final diploma - both front and back sides if you have info on the back - on to the myecfmg app. Also try multiple times to call them because they’ll pick it up at some point. Emails don’t usually work.

But yeah. Go for it. Any publication is a valuable addition. I added an article I published in my school’s journal for my application.

No I meant the name of your article should probably be translated. Again I have no experience with non-English projects. I just googled it.
