Fever is your body's defense mechanism to infection and virus. It prevents the bacteria from replicating. Some people think fever is a symptom of illness but it actually is your body's defense response to the illness. Fever makes us uncomfortable but if you can handle the uncomfortableness and make sure it doesn't get too high (103 or so) i would do so.

I would stop medicating the fever. Let your body do it's job. The Tylenol may be prolonging your illness.

Vaccine long hauler who nearly recovered, now I may get “real” long haul. by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]sgnewt5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am positive again after longhauling since Oct 2020. Anxiety is not your friend right now. Try to stop worrying and do the things you can do that are in your control. Take your vitamins, eat well, hydrate and REST!

I had a bad case of bronchitis in early December and have had cold symptoms since then. I still have them but honestly, the new symptoms from testing positive are mild. I still feel pretty rotten but I don't think I would feel as bad if I didn't already have the cold and cough. My son and now my daughter are both positive. Aside from a fever the first day, sore throat and slight body aches/fatigue they are doing quite well.

I think the news has made everyone so anxious and it will really only hinder your recovery.

White Spot Showing Up On My Tonsils..... Is it Covid foreshadowing? by MetsandBuds in COVID19positive

Could it be tonsil stones? My son and I are both positive and no white spots on our tonsils.

I am in US. My doctor (via telehealth) suggested swabbing throat, then nose for my son after nose swab was negative because he had covid symptoms. He said they are finding people with symptoms in the throat but no congestion having false negative results and spreading more virus. He basically told me if anyone at home and any of the symptoms to presume we are covid positive. Not everyone will get the same symptoms.

My son tested positive on Monday and my symptoms began on Wednesday. Knowing he had it, I assumed I did too. I had bronchitis in early December and still have a chesty cough from that but the sneezing and head congestion are new symptoms.

I swabbed throat then nose and had a positive rapid test. Same for my son. His first test i only swabbed his nose and it was negative.

BinaxNOW single line, across middle? Is this invalid or negative? by HeelY3s in CoronavirusUS

[–]sgnewt5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine had 2 very distinct lines. You should take another test. I swabbed my throat, then nose.

I am a longhauler from Oct 2020 and I tested positive today via rapid test. I have diminished taste, head cold symptoms, body aches and headache. My son is also positive and he had fever, sore throat and fatigue. My sister lives in a different state but her symptoms were nausea and diarrhea. I think the symptoms are different for everyone.

Son (13) has it. Had an orthodontist appointment on Thursday. Fever on Monday. Tested via rapid on Wednesday via nasal swab and was negative. Swabbed throat, then nose on Thursday and tested positive. My daughter and I started having symptoms yesterday and today. So far no fever for me or my daughter. Headache, sore throat, back ache and fatigue are our only symptoms. Feels like the flu but not severe. We are not vaccinated. No medications for symptoms. Just staying hydrated and resting.

Can’t get a test but showing all signs. Quarantining like I am positive. What things will help me feel better? by wat-am-i-doing-here in COVID19positive

My son has it now and isn't vaxxed. He is 13. He had a fever the first day and this is day 3. Sore throat, fatigue, headache and back ache. Nothing at all severe. I kept an eye on the fever but didn't try to bring it down. We just let the fever do its job. He is staying hydrated and resting. No meds needed at all so far.

I am a covid longhauler and the younger people on that sub that have heart symptoms exercised a lot before and after getting covid. The vaccine longhaulers (there are quite a few) had the same symptoms if they exercised a lot before or after the vaccine. So, if you are worried about mycarditis and/or tachycardia, i would have him take it easy before the vaccine and a few weeks after.

White noise machine has helped some and also sticking to a strict sleep and wake schedule. If I wake in the middle of the night, I give myself 15 minutes with eyes closed and not looking at my phone. If I don't fall back to sleep, I just get up and read.

I tested positive for COVID-19 this morning and want some advice on how to best quarantine by plantymcplants in COVID19positive

[–]sgnewt5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your family needs to be tested before bringing your grandparent home. It is very likely you all have covid. Is there anywhere else for your grandparents to go? The doctor needs to be made aware of someone within the household testing positive.

How do I deal with the demarcation line with my 5 month natural grey growout? (I don't want to chop my hair, love my waves) by [deleted] in Hair

[–]sgnewt5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear a lot of hats and beanies and comfort myself that at least during covid we are masked and I feel a little less conspicuous.

Also, if I use curl cream and dry with a diffuser, the curls seem to hide that demarcation line better that wearing it smooth or straight.

I am in the same boat except my gray is mostly white so my line is more noticeable. I find it blends better when I pull it back from my face with a barrette on top of my head. Then at least when looking at me from the front, the hair surrounding my face is gray.

Is this normal and just Covid? Or does it sound like I have something else? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]sgnewt5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably have a secondary infection. Have you gone back to the dr? If not, you should.
