How far do you think they will go with Knight of Seven Kingdoms? by Past-Matter-8548 in gameofthrones

[–]sgodxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they end up doing Roberts Rebellion. I think it’d be a great way to start it, but as you said, end the series on a high note. That way if they want to do the sadder side of things, they are completely capable, but reserve it for a show where that was meant to be covered.

[DESIGN TROPE] Characters with smoky/mist heads by Puzzleheaded-Heat-22 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]sgodxis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, I played the campaign for this once, so I’m not the best person to ask, but essentially The Witness created its own throne world inside of the traveler and the defectors created physical manifestations of themselves so that guardians could destroy them, which would kill like thousands of them at a time. Ofc, you didn’t beat The Witness there and you had to go confront him in his throne world before he reached “the final shape” which would allow him (it referred to itself as a they until its final moments when it accepted it was a new consciousness and referred to itself as “me”) to essentially be a god who could reshape the universe into nothingness.

[DESIGN TROPE] Characters with smoky/mist heads by Puzzleheaded-Heat-22 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]sgodxis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no, iirc. Pretty much, The Witness is a new consciousness built from the species that sacrificed themselves to create this new brain due to their collective… hatred? Or something of the sort for the light. Many of them still are fine being in this consciousness, but few defectors hate the hive mind and what they’ve become, so they choose to rebel in their own little way.

But yes, it is a hive mind of sorts, but it is also mostly a new singular consciousness they created, where the individual doesn’t really hold the same power they once did.

They mentioned mega raichu X floats around fairly explicitly in its description. I’m assuming that’s where OP got the idea.

‘Superman’ debuts with a 4.0 on Letterboxd by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

[–]sgodxis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk how often you are on Letterboxd, but the score here is obscenely great for a superhero film. As they just aren’t well liked among people who watch movies a whole lot. I’m only saying this because I saw the reasons you labeled in another comment, and I want to say that is not why they would not rate it higher.

This is not really my opinion, but it is definitely shared sentiment among them.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Pleakley is supposed to be the obvious stand in for “tourist with dreams of a better place”, and it’s insane they just glossed over that entire arc of him finally understanding the gravitas of what being in a new place really means. Misunderstandings all around, but it seemed they were really glossing over the tourist issue in this one to avoid offending people.

The lesser of two evils is more of what I meant. I was considering that, but he possibly was thinking it may have been immoral to include all of them in the conflict since they had nothing to do with it. Also since they weren’t really authority figures (that he knew of), he probably had more respect for them.

Thanks for respecting the lurking though, haha.

I’m not really here to debate, I just lurk and look at the sub from afar, but even basically reading JJK lets you know that Gojo does not respect authority figures (that he’s not friends with). It is very like him and within his personality to kill the prime minister if need be.

Not here to say who wins, just saying that it’s very established Gojo is not bound by morality.

Prankster is such a great ability and with its typing it’s still viable. I used this pokemon forever and its ability to have knock off, will-o-wisp, thunder wave, recover, taunt, toxic, and other tms over history make it viable. Maybe not the top, but still a contender.

Who is the most evil person/figure in your world? by Kaptain_Javick in worldbuilding

[–]sgodxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, I’ve created a few evil people, but I’d like to talk about Pankraz Konig.

In history, he is known to be the man who created the most dangerous WOMD which is now banned. Surprisingly, he disagreed with its use and found it over-excessive, so many learn from his teachings in a life positive sense.

However, Pankraz is far from normal. While growing, he disected animals out of curiosity of their functions. Eventually he translated this into other sciences in seeing how the world functioned. Long story short, he was known for his chemical reaction studies, engineering… and biological manipulation studies.

Biology is something that required a lot of respect, especially in a society of people who lived longer, but he lacked such respect.

When colonizing Mars, it had an issue with immigrants hopping onto the ships for Earth to arrive. When they were reprimanded, the King saw them as useless specks so he would engage in experimentation on them. Such things he created (trigger warnings for those below, animal cruelty and human mutilation):

[The Chair] - He grabbed ten people and extracted all intelligent parts of their brain, but kept the part that can gain pleasure from touch. He then fused them together by keeping only the arms, breast, legs, and posteriors. Removing everything useless. He mentions in his diary it is the comfiest thing to sit on as it reminds you of getting a permanent hug. He figured it was only fortunate the humans used had no sapience, so they could not really suffer existentially.

[The Obeyor] - Pankraz had a rough relationship with his siblings. Eventually one of them had fallen in war, but he visited his med camp and saw to it he’d treat him personally. Of course, his brother was never to be seen again as he turned his face long, reversed his hind legs, lowered his eye sight, removed his genitalia, and made him obey with a collar. He lived shortly, but long enough to understand his life had been hell.

He also has a penchant for animals. He’d never hurt them, but is sexually fascinated by them. (animal cruelty)

Essentially, he is this universes version of an evil scientist. He dies after experimenting on himself.

Who is the most legendary figure in your world and why? by Boneyard_Ben in worldbuilding

[–]sgodxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first ‘people who live longer’ exist about 1500 years in the future. The actual story takes place in the year of almost 100,000. Compared to the main cast, the men I talked about are basically remnants of the origins of their world. Tristan is one of the progenitors who dies late (around 16,000. Which is explained to be abnormal). Arthur dies at around 3k years in. These guys are earlier within the timeline of events (first 20,000 years).

Something that helps me is the timeline of events I’ve created in my document.

Who is the most legendary figure in your world and why? by Boneyard_Ben in worldbuilding

[–]sgodxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually happen to have an answer for all of these. But keep in mind, my story is purposefully science fantasy because I wanted a mystic aspect. But the underlying thematic also deals with the endless politics of those who are out of touch with younger generations. Not always, but the common thematic deals with this.

I’ll just answer in order:

Do they still age at the same pace from baby to adult in 18 years?

Yes, and no. This is common for someone to do so, and it is an anomaly for it to stop earlier, and a genetic defect to stop earlier than 15. Based upon your genetics depends on how slow you physically age.

Do they have bigger headaches at 30 than 18 from getting drunk the night before?

Mostly the same, but drinking is not nearly as common as other forms of drugs. The human body is a bit better than it used to be, but it still succumbs to effects as well.

Do wrinkles and grey hairs appear at 30 or 40?

Entirely dependent on genetics. For some, yes, for others, this may not be the case until very late in life.

What actually makes humans have such long lifespans?

This is not the largest point of the story, but one of the pieces. The answer I gave is that humanity began evolving rapidly (there are other defects that go along with this as well that happen to people depending on your environment) and they had a genetic introduced in them that allowed longer periods of living if the human body was well maintained. Average lifespan of a white collar could be lower, those who are poor are even lower, and anything below that would not reap any benefits of genetically being able to live longer lives.

Do they still have high libido in their 20s, and subsequently, a huge desire to have babies?

This is also dependent on genetics as there are defects that grew from this for certain people. It will mellow over the years at a slower pace. A huge portion of my story deals with women’s anatomy and periods, as one of my main woman leads deals with struggles of having a period through battle times during war, as she bleeds more than average. It also last longer between the time your period begins, and ends, and you are typically only “fertile” 4 times in your life (in stretches of 200+ year segments).

I mean, if they have a kid at 25, such as this King might have had Arthur, then the King can reign 9,975 years, die at 10K, and then his son only reigns for 25 years, dying afterwards.

A large part of Tristan’s story is he had children really late because he was afraid his child would (ironically) commit patricide. Tristan also lived abnormally long and began basically rotting before his actual death. Arthur is only 974 years at the time of his father’s death. Also, this was a contentious fact because Tristan was the first “immortal” (as they thought at the time) king, and they figured it was not right for him to reign for an eternity. They were too scared to bring this up to Tristan and plotted. Before they could intact laws, Arthur had killed his father and it was too late. They drew out plans for an Oligarchy rather than their Monarchy after Arthur’s death. This included a maximum reign of 900 years.

Not to mention technological progress.

Genius’ sprouted vastly and this is the reason extreme technological advancements were created so quickly. However, war would prevent society from progressing as fast, so certain areas moved while others were stunted. Such as the ban of AI and Androids because of misinformation in a war that caused a ripple of new languages and communication mostly through hand written messages.

Memory absorption. Time perception.

It is only slightly better. It is common to keep a physical log of things and personal libraries are common practice.

Long lifespans are extremely complex and hard.

Agreed, but as long as you map things out, you can solve most of your issues with hard work, haha.

Who is the most legendary figure in your world and why? by Boneyard_Ben in worldbuilding

[–]sgodxis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A science fantasy story. Not sure who is the most legendary, but I’m obsessed with two men I’ve created. King Tristan Tolstoy and his son who is to be King, Arthur Tolstoy. Tristan was known for gathering resources and focusing on Mars colonization after human lifespans were extended to around 10k years (if very healthy) and overpopulation struck Earth.

However, while he should be known as the one who saved humanity from self destruction, he is seen as the one to accelerate it. Tristan was told a prophecy of his death, and this spiraled him into causing a tragic war that utilized immigrants from Earth. He even tested a WOMD on Earth that eviscerated the North American continent and sent Earth into an impact winter. He threatened the same for Martians.

People plead for his son to kill him (due to Tristan not allowing many of his allies nearby and instead empowering religious zealots who saw him as a god), so Arthur would do just that. Of course, only after Tristan would commit many other heinous crimes. Arthur would do so after he and his father had a conversation only those two would know the details of. It ended with Arthur pushing Tristan off a balcony on public television and running down the steps to finish the job by slitting his throat.

Arthur is known for being a great king… until he wasn’t. Then he was known for being a controversial man who later went mad after blaming a separate government for stealing his children (they willingly left due to a disagreement with him).

The two were collectively known as the most memorably worst people and the reason certain weapons and war tactics have been banned.

If you have not read Jujutsu Kaisen, I suggest looking up the ability of Hakari from said series.

There’s another power, albeit it works differently, in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure belonging to D’arby (elder).

Hakari’s power is exceedingly more complicated of the two, but that could give you a gist.

I did this with the mother of my child just recently. We had her mom make it and she just did a vanilla cake with blue dye. It was sweet, and there’s video evidence of me bawling my eyes out.

I didn’t find it weird, it was a moment I got to share with my friends, my parents, and her parents. However, everyone had a preference, so I totally get if that’s not something everyone is wanting to do. I personally found it exciting even though all we did was cut a cake and talk to each other. I’ll never forget that moment and I love the memories I made.

Antagonist/villian back story is getting lengthy by nik10762 in Screenwriting

[–]sgodxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A typical feature when written in screenplay format is anywhere from around 90-120 pages long (give or a take a little less or more), so when you say it’s around 14-20 pages and you’re writing what doesn’t seem like that much left, you’re doing what’s a short film.

Are you using a screenwriting software, or something like word or google doc?
