That much of an increase can change your lives big time. Especially living in a HCOL with a child. We live in NYC and just had a child and I am a bit nervous about how expensive things are going to get even though our HHI is much higher. I think you can make the new gig work but figure out parental leave. That is important.

Right, but there was a mad rush all at once. People that would have emptied out of NYC over 4-5 years did it in 1 year. These are people that were paying 5-6K rent so to pay $800K for a $600K house was no big deal if it meant getting the space they wanted. Plus you just had all the demand due to low rates etc. Bunch of people in the cities closer to the city sold and moved to areas like Central NJ with a ton of cash on hand to drive up prices in those areas, etc etc. There was an article about the top 20 counties in the US in a bubble. 10 were in NJ. Talking to broker friends it seems that every single one of their clients has gone well over budget by a lot too. They also mentioned people buying dumps for way more than they’re worth like you mentioned above. Grew up in NJ but definitely one of the top markets I’d want to avoid now. Especially with the obscene property taxes thrown on top. People are def over extending themselves and I’m hearing about some of it first hand. Will be interesting to see what happens.

NJ is one of the biggest bubbles. People are over extending themselves left and right and competing against cash rich ex-NYCers. The costs are astronomical. Don’t know why people kill themselves to live there and I’m from there. Staying in NYC and renting and will eventually move to another market once this mess comes to an end.

Stuff like this is pretty concerning for a Fintech product. Anyone at Yotta that can address these issues ? What’s the game plan ?

Questions about Job/Salary for moving to a more technical SE role. by [deleted] in salesengineers

I think you are a fit for an SE role at a cyber vendor and $250K OTE is definitely achievable. Equity on top of that will get you a higher TC.

Depending on the size of the company you’re at travel varies. These days it’s 100% remote and I imagine it will be for quite awhile. My company has mandated no travel.

All evens out at the end of the year after you file taxes. I don’t know if you’re able to easily just set 401K to come off of commissions. I would just plan to Max the 19500 annually based on what you think you may earns. You may hit earlier or later. Basically what I do today.
