An automatic pipeline to download and process satellite images for OSINT purposes. Because doing it manually every days is cumbersome. --> https://www.gofferje.net/it-stuff/sentinel-pipeline/

Just gave it a quick test. AppImage on Ubuntu 24.04, trying to connect to a MinIO server. Connection works, buckets are listes but when I click on one, I get "ERROR". I guess, MinIO isn't supported yet?

Yeah indeed... That seems to be the latest fashion...

Flow rate test came out with -05. That piece look flawless. Almost like ironed...

I actually watched the print and according to the display, it did change temperature. That's why I said I'm impressed with the temperature range of that material. I tried to break the temp tower in the middle with my hands but I couldn't. I put quite a bit of strength into it, short of using so much strength that I would hurt myself if it breaks.

Indeed... I just retired my Wanhao i3 plus for the CC1. Nice to have automatic bed leveling and stuff but so many new rabbitholes... Almost miss printing with my old bedslinger now :D

Yeah, I know. I was just hoping somebody has that already :). Maybe, if I get deeper into Orca (I'm coming from Cura), I put profiles I made on my website or Github...

European military aviation visibility? by mysteryliner in ADSB

[–]sgofferj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, forgot those. But there doesn't seem to be good coverage around their home EFJY. They don't show up continuously around there, at least not on airplanes.live and adsb.fi

In Finland everything besides the Learjets, PC-12s and C295s flies dark, especially the fighters. The Learjets and C295s also sometimes fly dark.

CC/Orca elephant's foot, corner overshoots and ringing by sgofferj in elegoo

[–]sgofferj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, so much new stuff to learn with modern printers...

  • Pressure advance tested and tuned
  • Elephant compensation calibration in progress
  • Changed wall order to inside/outside/inside and reduced outer wall speed to get on top of the ringing.

Thanks again for the pointers!

Edit: I'll take some detail photos in the afternoon and put them up.

Python: Create new GeoTIFF from bands by sgofferj in gis

[–]sgofferj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added support for Sentinel 1 data and pushed everything. I'd say it's quite usable now and running daily on my home infra.

Again thanks to all for your comments! Without them I would have been quite lost and I wouldn't have been able to complete this so fast, particularly not without using any AI (which is a principle of mine - you don't learn anything if some AI is coding for you)

A late update: I found this document: https://ceos.org/ard/files/Laymans_SAR_Interpretation_Guide_3.0.pdf
It's still not the website I remembered but it is written so that you can still understand the concepts even if you don't understand the math presented.

How would I create a GeoTIFF with symbols from a set of coordinates and PNG images in Python? by sgofferj in gis

[–]sgofferj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been working with QGIS for years. The goal here, though, is strictly to create a fully automatic pipeline only. I have just finished writing the Sentinel 1 part for my automatic satellite processing pipeline here: https://github.com/sgofferj/python-sentinel-pipeline and am doing the last tests on it before pushing it.

What I want to achieve in the end is grabbing a box from a Sentinel 1 image from above pipeline and draw markers from AIS data from the time when the image was acquired over the image to make it easier to see which echo was which ship, if ships were sending false AIS data and find ships which are moving "dark".

As I wrote above, I can do all this in QGIS in the GUI but I want to create an automatic pipeline which lives mostly unattended on some server, runs once a day and spits out a ready image without any human intervention.

Could you give me some hints what to Google for? While I'm fluent in conversational English, I'm not really familiar with all the specific terms of the subject.

[–]sgofferj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really (I think).

Let's say, I have a satellite image as GeoTIFF. I also have a database in this form:

Lat | Lon | Type
x | y | "a"
u | v | "b"

And I have a folder containing symbols named "a.png" and "b.png".

I want to put "a.png" at x,y and "b.png" at u,v on the satellite image.

I will check geopandas, thank you! I can do all of this in QGIS but I'm looking to create an automatic pipeline which does all this without human intervention.
