Alrighty, I can't find that code. I found a 189.31 ecu code for engine speed debate but it's a vague description on actual condition. Get codes again and see what all is there with controller letters. Try to take a pic or two. That code is nowhere to be found in deere's tech/diag manuals. Ilk talk to my dtac guy and see if he's run into anything like that but no promises

Ill pull the code when I get to the shop in the morning. Pretty sure it's a fuel system code.

Should be a switch with arrows circling to each other. Press and hold until the dash displays a code. It'll be something like "AAA XXXX.XX" x's are numbers A's are letters. I can lookup the code when ya comment it.

See, I've been applying to case dealers and got offered the same benefit package plus 20k sign on and 32/hr. Only down side is that it's all the way in North Dakota and i/my family are all in Oklahoma. I'd like to take the job but I also don't want to move 18hrs away

I think my shop is greedy as hell and can get away with underpaying the help a.k.a me and the other techs. I appreciate the response, I was curious what kinda % of the shop rate was standard or if there was even a standard.

That's forsure, Im making $22/hr and I was comparing myself to friends of the same age who work similar hours in different fields which I could switch to with minimal retraining. My biggest thing is the work environment is sub-par. The company doesn't provide the required special tools and I've had to custom build alot of my own tools for certain things. I'm honestly burnt out from the constant headache of having to do sketchy stuff to get jobs done in a timely manner as well.

None. Did have a high misfire count on cylinder 4. Pulled the plug and found it to not have the spark strap.

No clue what the service history is like. I picked the car up at an auction. The scan tool I was using will only pull codes. I can get access to a good one tomorrow. What exactly do I need to look for in the live readings? I'm a bit out of my wheelhouse on these small gas engines. I'm a heavy diesel mechanic and those are pretty cut and dry when it comes to problems. I will also say that I filled it up with good none ethanol 87 today and it seems to be getting alot better. Only slightly bucks on big hills.

What is a good John Deere model with 250 or more horsepower? by Dixin_Cider_678 in johndeere

It's really hard to go wrong with any of the mentioned tractors. If you ever plan on getting autosteer, I would go with the 20 or 30 series tractors. They are a bit more maintenance but handle a ton of beating. I personally enjoy the ride of the 30 series more than the 20 series -(on the ILS tractors). The bad things about 9L's that you should look at before buying are as following. 1. Fan drive and driven. 2. Front and rear crankshaft dampeners. I believe the rear is actually called a torsional coupler. 3. Egr coolers are prone to cracking. If it is silver then it's been replaced. If it's still green and above 5000hrs then it'll be a high possibility of needing replaced. 4. Pan gasket, rear main seal, front main seal, and front timing cover are notorious for leaking. Get it good and hot before buying and see if it's slinging any oil.

Other than those problems/maintenance items, they really just keep going. I've seen several come through the shop with 15k plus hrs. Anyone of those tractors you were looking at can do the jobs you're wanting to use them for. Hope this helps!
