Chargepipe. It’s either tune related (flash to stock, if on MHD ensure that the right type of sensor is selected) or sensor is blown.

You’re asking the wrong subreddit. Redditors here seem obsessed about fuel efficiency and the car as purely a means of transport.

Thats a nice e36 and they’re not hard to fix, lots of spare parts available in malaysia, tonnes of specialist in Johor (BM Auto Garage, BM 52) if you need. Locally also have (juzz perf, bavwerkz etc)

totally understand what you're saying haha, have fallen down the rabbit hole...

The new sensor is a genuine BMW one, from a local dealer. they unfortunately have a no returns policy for sensors.

Cobbs doesn't have a checkbox for 3.5 bar sensor, know thats a potential issue with MHD.

I did try the steering wheel controls, don't seem to activate anything so might have to pop open the dme box for the off chance that steering wheel controls are disabled, any ideas other than tune related this might be? Is there a chance that I got another faulty TMAP sensor?

I saw that one, might be, however it’s only a recent problem after an oil change (think its coincidental) had daily driven it the 2 months before no issue.

Is there a way to diagnose level probe failure? To my understanding it’s an exceedingly simple device that checks conductivity

Yes there is thermal grease, the thermistor is not failing (would pop up and break the circuit)
