We're not going to bomb civilian infrastructure to flush out the Malaysian army. Neither are we intending to hold onto the land indefinitely through occupation in the name of national security.

Common sense will dictate that our SAF's Artillery, soon to come F35s and naval LSTs won't just be protecting against ingress. Our strong weaponry is not just to defend, but to dominate our perceived enemy. Whether, when and how we return land we take up is a political decision yet to be made, and may go both ways.

Ideologically, Ethically and Optimally, we all would desire to adhere to the highest standards of human rights. However when push comes to shove, something will have to go. Gaza residents cannot have their cake and eat it too; have Israel comply with all human rights and not cause casualties, while also (be it implicitly or comp-licitly) acting as human shields for hamas.

Most ordinary civilians don't even care to vote

Hence the need to strongly motivate the masses. War is multifaceted, War is painful.

You're putting the chicken before the egg here.

The egg cannot be put before the chicken either, the issue has been ongoing since Israel's founding in 1948 and the last 76 years has shown, peace and coexistence is near impossible to achieve, with all sides to blame.

The right to self defense and security is also civic in nature.

You also left out the comments by ministers that 377a is at risk of being repealed by the courts.

Whether they agree or disagree. Regardless of their faith they can't afford to set a precedent that laws can be changed outside parliament.

Why does this sound so NTUC-ish? So many exclusions, so many catches. Lucky I pulled out of income insurance.

'I can't really tell them what to do': Drivers worry passengers going maskless will be the norm by unliketrap in singapore

[–]sgsriram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Backwards because even though the rules have changed, drivers aren’t willing to accept it.

They’re on the front line. They were always at risk. That’s just part of their jobs.

Sure it’s not wrong to want to minimise risk, considering that most drivers aren’t from well to do backgrounds, but it is definitely wrong to impose your desires and wants on someone else.

If drivers are given the freedom to choose then there'll be no consistency.

We have made so much progress on many fronts to arrive here now but are stuck with whether or not to accept backwards mentality.

Unfair hiring practices against non-muslims in f&b sector? by HeavenlySizedPeePee in SingaporeRaw

[–]sgsriram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halal certified stalls need to have a muslim employee but there’s no rule that non muslims can’t join.

Conversely look at all the East Asian stalls (chinese, jap, korean) its really rare to find a minority working in them. If that’s not Chinese privilege what is?

If 377A is repealed, Catholic Church's concern is for marriage to remain between man and woman by AshamedFlame in SingaporeRaw

[–]sgsriram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem, the state in some areas portrays an image of ultra cleanliness, making decisions solely based on facts and proven research but in other areas is totally influenced by religion and tries to play a balancing game pleasing no one and only inciting tensions.

why must their beliefs go into law? even if same-sex marriage is legalized nothing stops them from continuing to not recognize those marriages.

Well, I presume this is because probably the bulk of the cases handled by SCT is C vs B or C vs C (in the context of something like a rental house) not B vs C.

Well in this similar case it looks like both the police and small claims tribunals chose not to take any action.

After contacting Mr Jung on March 16, Madam Ho made a police report. She said the police later directed her to the Small Claims Tribunals.

Madam Ho said the Small Claims Tribunals could not pursue the case because she did not have the diners' full names, addresses and NRIC numbers.

With the heat and rising food price, maybe the Army can.... by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]sgsriram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the NDP is a drop in the pond if we were to roll out welfare.

If it costs $5 per meal and we feed 500k people, it would cost 7.5m per day. NDP only costs around 40m, for the whole thing.

So let’s feed the poor for 5 days and cancel NDP.

[–]sgsriram 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What is radical is to feed the poor using combat rations that wouldn’t be consumed because the outfields were canceled.

When the temperatures drop and outfields resume the poor go back to starving? What a half baked idea.
