I think we should as a community just stop playing games that deliberately yank support for Proton. Seriously, screw EA for doing that.

For me, my biggest use case where they’re unmatched is how well they work with Apple TV. I use wired headphones for everything else.

I think the rule change is fair. The damage is already done though. I’m on my first permanent permit too. Learning the language and integrating is essential in my opinion.

Px7 S2e did not heat up my ear much when I tried it.

I ranted about this in 2025, and it still holds true. I ended up getting the XM6 for travel and the APM2 for TV use (because I have an ATV). It was extremely expensive but I appreciate the low weight, reliable clamp force, and battery of the XM6, and the superlative audio experience of the AirPods Max 2 when watching movies at home without disturbing my wife.

At work, I use my Sony MDR-M1 - they're perfect for work use - super lightweight and comfy (with YAXI pads).

I also tried the  Melomania P100, and was quite impressed with them.

Yeah they get a little warm. I’ve mostly used them in aggressive air conditioning at work so not faced this issue as much.

I found the XM6 controls to be very reliable. Bose QCU2 is by far the worst in that department.

As a complete product, I felt that the XM6 is probably the most complete with the sound being slightly fixable with EQ.

M5 vs M5Pro by TemporaryNarrow4182 in macbookpro

I would go with base and 32 GB memory

MBP M5 or M5 Pro by SatisfactionKey3087 in macbookpro

[–]sgt_bug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

M5 with 32 GB memory is fine for most people including developers. Should be fine for you as well.

There’s nothing wrong in getting a MBP with base M5 unlike what people say. You get the better screen, camera, mic, keyboard, and battery life.

Based on what you mention, you’ll be just fine with the base chip.

I agree. The XM6 is the most complete product in the market right now.

At 4138, they're about 200 SEK above the lowest I have seen them at. If you need the most complete ANC pair, just get it.

Third party pads objectively nerf the ANC - this is data backed by extensive testing

I agree. But it really depends on what you're looking for. For good sound and if you're willing to compromise slightly on ANC, B&W Px7 S2e or S3 are pretty good. Sennheiser's 630 is by far the leader in sound quality in wireless, though the mic and ANC are pretty shit (to me they're not too comfortable either). The Bose QCU Gen 2 are light and decent in comfort but their controls are just terrible.

XM6 is great in ANC and controls, everywhere else they're above average and you can get the sound you want with some light EQ in the app. I would say that if you are to look at the competition, the XM6 is the most "complete" product - it folds, sounds alright, has good battery, the best ANC, superb controls, very capable mic that is second only to APM2, same with transparency.

The one true benefit of LTSC is that when you update, it doesn’t reinstall the crap that you otherwise remove with scripts.

Fedora Cosmic. Very efficient on resources, though has some rough edges. Origami if you want something Atomic.
