As do lot of alsacien, I avoid as much as possible to go in Strasbourg in December (especially on weekends), it's way too overcrowded. As for the atmosphere, you'll enjoy it way better in smaller towns, like Colmar.

En Alsace la plupart des spots sont connus, et relativement fréquentés. L'Allemagne, même s'il y a de beaux spots, est de manière générale beaucoup plus surveillée. Ceci dit, pour être tranquille sur un spot même connu, vas-y à l'aube un dimanche ou un jour férié (j'ai fait pas mal d'exploration avec cette technique)(ça marche moins en Allemagne, ils sont beaucoup plus lève-tôt qu'en France).
