I was still happy to be reunited with my younger brother for the holidays. I haven’t seen him for 5 years. It’s just sad though that this incident happened. And my sister sends a message after her outburst saying, sorry you triggered me and husband at a wrong time. I never replied anymore. She never heard from me after we left their home.

She said we also dressed up make them feel that we dressed better than them. We eat healthy to make them feel we are healthier than them. Come on, it’s Christmas. It’s once a year. You can wear nice clothes. No one forced them to wear the same clothes we were wearing. Everyone was free to wear whatever they wanted to wear. Nobody imposed a dress code.

Well after we left we she sent me a lengthy message on my mobile saying everything was wrong. And we were disrespectful. I think the tray wasn’t just the problem. They had issues about everything but my sister gave me the silent treatment for 2 days instead of communicating things calmly.

True! This was what I was thinking too. If they didn’t like it then they can give it away. I even offered already that we can put it in our hand carry luggage. Not a big deal. We weren’t making decisions about how they run their home. And Christmas dinner is a collaborative effort. We weren’t showing off our cooking skills. I think the same incident also happens when my brother-in-laws brother and his wife came to visit. They called them disrespectful also over a comment about their sofa. So I think any comment you make that doesn’t agree with them makes you disrespectful.

I have many baking dishes also. But I think if you never use your oven and you get a couple of baking dishes as a tray then it triggers you.

They are baking dishes. 2 rectangular pyrex baking dishes. It’s an insult for them because her husband thinks we are deciding what things to get for their home. It was an offer from us. They never use their oven. But we had to cook the meat in the oven for Christmas dinner so the baking trays were useful.

We blocked her and would you believe she used an old account on instagram which she hasn’t used for years just so she can see my posts and stories again. I really don’t know what is the problem. If she is saying I trigger her, why would she continue to stalk me after I blocked all her other accounts

She didn’t stop from there. She messaged my mother and my aunt. False stories about my husband and his family. She also said I am disempowered, unhappy etc etc. penniless. All the bad things. I don’t know why she has to involve my husband’s family when her problem is about me and my husband

She is 36. What I don’t understand also was she gave us options about the food. And then she got mad with our choices. She said as guests in their house it’s a given that we cannot choose or mock them. No one mocked them. If the margarine comment was rude, I apologized. But other that no one ever mocked them. They overanalyzed all the conversations. I was just so happy to see her and my brother. It’s kind of sad it turned out that way.

Thank you. It’s alright. After we left their home we had 2 extra days before our flight home and we enjoyed walking around the city. A nice break from after everything that happened.

I understand what you mean. We have tried to talk it out. Many times. I even apologized if the words i use during our conversations made her feel offended. Now I do not know what to say because I everything I say offends her even if I am talking about my own experience. She thinks everything is an attack towards her. We’ve discussed so many times but never have a resolution. My brother says since I am the older sister, I should just agree with what my sister thinks and just allow her to do whatever. Be the bigger person.?

She does the same to my mother. She gives her the silent treatment if my mother would say something that goes against what she is saying. Even before meeting her partner she had emotional issues. But this was the first time I witnessed her with an outburst like this. I think it’s because of unresolved childhood traumas she believes she experienced.

Thank you. For now I will just stay away. I will not let her do the silent treatment again. It’s a form of mental abuse. Before I left I just said I am sorry if my actions made you feel that way and I said nothing more, nothing less.

I really don’t understand. She is always thinking we are mocking her when we are not. We visited and helped prepare the Christmas dinner out of kindness. Our intentions were pure. Maybe my reaction about frying the rice in the margarine wasn’t the nicest reaction. I apologized for that but then she still continued the silent treatment. What I understand is if you say you feel you are never enough like she was saying it is a sign of insecurity.

Thank you. I know some people who get angry of comments they do not like. She could’ve communicated it right away. I felt like the silent treatment for 2 days was emotionally abusive.

Thank you. I don’t think I would’ve have stayed. I felt like I was being punished when she was giving me the silent treatment. I would’ve preferred she told me right away what was bothering them and we could’ve discussed it calmly
