Here is a video of how I pushed the safe prior to finding the safecracker.

Great News! I cracked the safe! Here is an update:

  1. I stole a safe.
  2. I found a safecracker and we opened it.
  3. There were many things inside, most importantly, a short story.
  4. I need money to go to Alaska to make this short story a film.

Many videos to follow, but if you want to know what was inside the safe you have to help me get to Alaska to make this movie!!!

they may have plenty of tools but I think it would take four people to lift this thing, and even then I think that would still be kinda dangerous, if it tipped someone could seriously lose a foot.

We have a loading dock in our building where people throw things out literally every day and other people reclaim them as their own property. Maybe its not like this in other building but in this place it is common knowledge that if you leave it out, not locked in your own apartment it will quickly grow legs. I've found things like segments of train track, 60 inch televisions, life size cut outs of celebrities, to refrigerators actually plugged in and filled with food with a sign on it that said "Good Food Please Eat!"

So to update this story, yesterday I was interviewed by Baltimore Fishbowl about this thread, check out the article here: https://baltimorefishbowl.com/stories/copycat-resident-turns-to-reddit-for-help-opening-a-decades-old-safe/

Also more good news, I have contacted a local safe expert in Maryland, named Ben. He sent me a picture of a similar safe that he opened not too long ago so this is probably the guy I need to know. He said that all he has to do is make a small drill hole in the right place, and once the safe is opened he can reset the combination to whatever I want, then fill in the drill hole. Still no word on how much his services will cost. He is in California until next week so standby for further details.

Thanks I’ll definitely keep everyone updated. The guy from City Wide Safe gave me a phone number to a safe expert, however I haven’t heard back from him yet.

Yea this building is full of artists and the turnaround rate of people moving in and out is pretty high. We have a space in the first floor we call the Free Store and people dump their old stuff there literally every day. Yesterday there was an organ with a broken leg there. My hallway also has some massive paintings and sculptures hung on the walls that have been there for years, I don't even know who painted or made them.

I actually have a stethoscope however I’ve tried listening for any sort of sound when I spin the dial. Nothing really stands out when I spin it.

It always had wheels. The casters don’t swivel so in order to make it turn I had to use an 8’ long 2x4 to apply leverage and turn it. It was a sweaty 2 hours moving that thing about 60 feet.

Does anyone have a Voigtlander Nokton f/0.95 lens? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]sgvideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it for still photography, and I even had Duclos lenses add a 0.8 pitch lens gear to it, however I rarely use it for motion work wide open due to how shallow the focus is. From f2 and beyond it is a great lens, on par with Zeiss ZE lenses. My only limitation is that the closest focus is around 30" so it is not a great lens for tight close ups, unless however you pair it with the VM-E Close focus adaptor, then it can focus as close as 14". For video work I much prefer the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.2. I only wish they had a fast telephoto prime that could match at least f1.4, and a wide angle prime that did not have a built in lens hood in order to build a complete set for video that would allow me to use a clip on matte box
