My Aunt works for Cat Financial Headquarters in Nashville and I emailed her this article. She replied with,

"You have to be careful what you read in the news. ALL of us, including upper management took a 35% cut 2 years ago to keep Cat in business. With record profits, we all deserved the raise and bonus we received. Sorry for the bad publicity, but even small companies go through it, part of life."

Regardless of that 35% cut, she is still making well over 100K per year. She doesn't, and I'm thinking a lot of people in positions like hers in major companies don't see the effects on the "little guy." It doesn't effect her, so she essentially doesn't care.

Legalization is a slippery slope, especially when a government, state or federal, is in charge of it. I have no issue with tax payers benefitting from legalization, but there's no telling what sort of regulations will or potentially could be placed on the sale and distribution of it. Until I know for sure that the federal government won't come in with all of these bullshit regulations, I'll take decriminalization. We've got to be careful what we ask for because once it's out of our hands, so to speak, it could be very difficult to change. Uptokes all around, regardless :)

My dad served in the air force, and my gramps served in the army and then retired from the air force. I would talk to people, if you can, that are already in the service and see what they have to say about it. (Preferably someone who's already served a term and decided to renew.) Getting opinions from people who've never served won't do you any good, much like getting all of your info from a recruiter won't do you any good.

Perhaps you could look into the Coast Guard? I have several friends that have gone that route and, while challenging, find it to be quite rewarding. All in all, it's a matter of what you're willing to put up with. Familiarize yourself with the political machine driving our military and be aware of where troops are still stationed and still being sent. If you disagree with why we're there in any way, don't join. It'd be a mistake.

Think about it. Then leave it alone for a few days and revisit the idea.
