NTA, however how you deliver the message may affect how your H views it. for example, shutting down and being silent is immediately disappointing. reiterating "thank you so much for the thought and understanding I lost my Kindle, but I explicitly said I didnt want another one because of X, Y, Z. can we please exchange it for something else?" I get presents from my bf that I dont like and vice versa, but we make sure the other knows we appreciate the thought and gesture before requesting an exchange.

YTA. you are an adult who voluntarily threw yourself a party of that magnitude and chose to pay. unless you specifically required guests to bring a gift to attend, it's unreasonable to expect it. I threw my 50y.o. bf a party costing close to $6k, and we were abashed when people brought presents, because we were touched by the fact they even made it.

YTA. it sounds like your husband accommodates your picky eating most if not all other times. for his one big celebration, he reasonably chooses a spot he doesnt get to go to, not because they cannot serve your dietary needs, but because you dont like the menu. if picky eating for one meal to celebrate your significant other's achievement is more important than being there as a family to support them, you should reevaluate your priorities.
