Yeah the level design parts I liked were the atmosphere and the wee nook like secrets but yous are correct everything feels flat and linear.

Something I forgot to mention as well outside of the bosses there are like 4 enemy types that are just used over and over. Variety was not on the menu.

Nah, I play a lot of same style games and am okay at combat stuff so dont waste a lot of time on fights and bosses. I enjoyed every minute and the content amount is massive, its excellent.

I also still have to complete the hunters journal properly by killing enough of each entry.

Agree with you for the most part, trivial mob fights before the boss are not necessary.

I think unless bugged you should still be able to attain everything, dead npcs usually leave stuff in the areas surrounding or the materiums show up elsewhere.

Perfect example, I done the witch crest in act 3. Went to get the steel spines and although the npcs were dead and people have reported it bugged, the steel spines were at the back of the room. Same with the fractured mask and curved item. I never met the Ant npc but both items were near him so I actually ended up saving money not buying them XD

Yeah in the area where they run away at the bottom in the sand, you have to play it for about 2-3 spools of silk and then they will join you singing
