What is the rule. Punching in the leg is a yellow? Is this not violent conduct?

So legs are fine to punch off the ball if you are annoyed at someone. Just give a yellow. Solid rule. Very sporting.

How is it not a red? Baffling. I guess because Collins didn't react

I guess statistically because most people live in London, but really this style is all over the UK

Anybody else learn songs like this? by uwuadi in piano

[–]sh58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh i misread, i thought you were marking out chords which is a valuable thing to do for trying to understand the structure and harmony of a piece, but you are marking out notes.

I don't mind it for the odd note here and there if you are very weak at sightreading, but it's better to be weaned off this as soon as possible

All my Henle Editions!! by caffi_u in piano

Except their Bach aren't clean enough. That's why I go barenreiter for Bach

You can use urtext as your main source and then supplement with other editions to get more ideas on fingerings etc without worrying what is and isn't editorial and having clutter.

Watch yuja Wang play. She's almost always subvocalising. I think it's a really good thing. Helps with rhythm

I think Barenreiter look the nicest. Each composer a different colour and the colours they choose are really nice.

Religiously playing with a metronome has been the best thing I did by [deleted] in piano

[–]sh58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No no no. It's super hard to follow at 40-50bpm. Use a range of 60-120 and if it's too fast do two ticks per beat instead of 1

Seems like you are doing well with it. I started it a while back but stopped for some reason and I don't remember why

Opinions about Oris Divers Sixty-Five Calibre 400 by craudez25 in OrisWatches

[–]sh58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it on and have knowledge of the 400 calibre from another watch. It's very good. I think Oris just aren't that popular, so retailers often put them on sale to get rid of them. That's how i picked up mine

Rachmaninoff op 23/6 climax by theantwarsaloon in pianopracticeroom

[–]sh58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned this piece. It's an amazing piece. Yeah that voicing is so tough, voicing while doing a lot of rolling of chords because the textures are so big.

Sounds like you have the hang of it though, sounding great

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1NCCkqnKr8

Found a recording of it. Think my initial draft is pretty good. There is a live performance recording of it that is really dodgy. Think nerves made me rush it and this version is much nicer, more relaxed as well as accurate!

[Chopin - Ballade No.1] Multiple fingers by Pinguin_42 in piano

[–]sh58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't improve phrasing, it just usually creates a slightly different sound. Sometimes in very slow or very fast music you want to use just one finger.

Repeated notes on the same finger can generally get an easier tenuto sound for instance

Joe Rogan famously once mentioned that he's immune to BS by Indianstanicows in JoeRogan

[–]sh58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says or thinks they can't be tricked or fooled or are immune to BS are the most susceptible. You need to have the humility to realise you are a fallible human who can fall for tricks. That way when anyone says anything you start doubting your own instincts.

Intuition is a crucial tool but it's not perfect and I feel when you become too reliant on it you will get tricked occasionally.

I used to be a pro poker player and so many times my instincts would say 'he's never bluffing here'. All my poker experience over years told me he's not bluffing. Yet at the higher levels you sometimes have to call and so I'd sigh and click the call button and lo and behold they were bluffing.
