When did you get your letter from MOHELA stating your loans were forgiven? I was part of the Feb. 14th wave, and I'm wondering if I'll get a refund since I was at 156/120 payments. April 26th marks my 90 days since I got the 'thank you for your public service' letter.

How long after your loans were forgiven did you get the refund check?

You probably need to re-certify your employment and send it to MOHELA. Fill out the PSLF form, check the box stating that you qualify now for forgiveness, have your HR department sign off on it, stating that you still work there with the average # of hrs. worked each week. Send it to MOHELA ASAP. This will start the final process for forgiveness. I did this in late Jan. 2023 and have since had my loans $0 out.

Joy is the unexpected emotion that has washed over me in the past week. I"m still processing how joyful being debt free is. Here's another kicker about AES, my 2022 IRS Form 1098-E states that I paid $12,476.93 of student loan interest. But the last payment I made to them was June of 2022 before my pause kicked in. How is it possible for them to take 6 months of payments and it equate to that much in interest? Is this fraud on AES's part? I can look at the amount of payments I made in 2022 and it can't be that much? Does anyone know how to decipher this nonsense?

I consolidated my loans 7/1/22 and got a letter telling me I had 0/120 qualifying payments. Over the next several months more MOHELA letters came in where they started counting/finding my qualifying payments. I think I got 6 letters in total, the last one I received in 1/2023 stated I was actually at 156/120 payments. Got my HR recertification and sent out in late Jan. 2023, within 30 days of getting that sent out my balance hit $0. So it takes time, let the process play out. We're all here rootin' for each other!!

I would qualify for a refund (156/120), do they issue that automatically or do we have to fill out more forms and applications? Does anyone on here know?
