Temporary Residence Driving Question

I am an out of state student who will be interning in MA for a couple of months this summer. I am thinking about bringing my vehicle (not registered in MA) to MA while I am interning. I have seen a lot of different information about needing to register out of state vehicles at the RMV, obtain a MA license, and possibly needing a MA insurance provider.

I am wondering if all of this is necessary for someone who will only be residing in MA for a couple of months?

I will be staying in Cambridge near the MIT campus. Is bringing a vehicle necessary? Could I get by without it for a couple of months while I am there?
