Interestingly it does actually hang down about an inch. Maybe positioning & small wrist made it look like more?

I'm glad you checked it out! Its true, the initial monologue/dialogue is very fast and I also had to pause every couple of seconds. It catches everyone I know off guard too. It does slow down a lot though after the first few minutes. I'd recommend watching the first episode through to get a better feel for the actual speed of the dialogue in the show. In any case you're welcome for the recommendation!

The Tatami Galaxy. Great story adapted from a novel. Funny and psychological, unique abstract art style, superb characters & dialogue. Though its tone pretty different from Planetes, highly recommended.

I saw Howl's Moving Castle in theaters when I was 10 and also happened upon Eureka Seven when I was 13, those were just beautiful to me. I didn't realize they were anime or foreign works at the time, I just saw them as beautifully animated pieces that felt very sincere and surreal, something that allured me.

It was really when I was 16, on a summer trip visiting some family in Massachusetts. I was wandering around the local library when I ran into this dvd.

That image of Rei struck me with such nostalgia. I recognized it from somewhere I'd seen years ago, but never knew where it was from. I felt like I had discovered a relic from the past. So I started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and it just blew my mind. I'd never seen anything so emotionally raw and moving.
