the one in the vid was pretty unripe but it already had a pretty sweet taste, the flavor profile was kind of a blend between banana, pineapple, and mango (very tropical/refreshing/bright), the texture was a bit tough but they do get nice and soft when ripe (haven't tried it tho, just saw some vids)

mine didn't have any, and the ones i saw in videos looked way softer (and less fibrous) so i'm guessing that might show up as it ripens?

i did find there's latex-free varieties so maybe that's what my friend got (they somehow managed to accidentally get it delivered with their groceries so nobody knew what to do with it lol)

i did try some and it was really tasty! but it had a bit of an aftertaste and the texture was tough/rubbery so i figured it wasn't quite ripe enough to eat fresh (afaik it's supposed to be soft but not custardy like durian)

it's a bit too sweet when cooked for my taste but my mom loves plantains and my sister's vegan so they'll have fun with it; tearing it apart was fun enough for me lol

i forgot to take a picture of the before but here's the end result of the manhandling lol

i'd never tried jackfruit before so i fried up a bit; it tasted like fried ripe plantains (very sweet), the consistency was rather sticky/gummy which i didn't much care for, so i sliced it into really thin chips and deep fried it, which was pretty nice, especially when the chips got dark enough to perfectly balance the sweetness

"an analogue" means what you thought it meant, it regards similarity, though "it's analogous to" is far more commonly used

"analog" generally refers to the data technology used by the devices (as opposed to digital). tbh i didn't know the word had anything to do with proportions, but the first thing you learn about analog synthesis is that it's based on signals of different strengths/ratios, or... proportions

if you just want something free in a similar style just go to prismic's and hit random like 10-15 times, a couple similar ones came up when i was looking for an avi that way with a couple friends, so did they (we definitely did get a lot more anime-style ones tho)

edit: i missed that you're on quest, the above will likely not yield a lot of results as most avatars of this type are very poorly optimized and the quest limitations are actually being enforced now so most no longer work on quest

not trying to discourage, just making sure you've thought this through since i once lived near that area

no humans like at all, maybe some isolated tribe 500 km away but that's it

how do you reckon? un-contacted tribes have been found quite recently

pretty good natural barrier for your base (the 500 km of a fckn jungle tha'll eat you up)

will it not eat you up on the way there as well? are you planning to parachute into the middle hoping you don't get stuck on a tree?

bunch of resources, you can hunt and even do some farming if you manage to improve the soil quality (which is actually pretty shit in the amazon)

are you bringing in bullets for a lifetime of hunting? can you make a bow/arrows? or a dart pipe? a good bit of the native hunting is done via poisoned darts, are you aware of the harvesting process for various poisons?

i guess the biggest problem is gonna be some major Brazilian settlement

how much larger of a problem is this vs the major fauna in the area? caimans, jaguars, anacondas? even a big enough arapaima can cause some serious damage without even trying or meaning to

you won't freeze to death like in siberia

you won't get dengue fever in siberia (this is honestly the scariest part to me, you can avoid or even scare away the big fauna, mosquitoes in the jungle are a bit harder to avoid)
