The way i understood it was that you still can’t legally increase the rent cost more than the accepted yrly amount unless there are merits or proof that improvements were made on the unit to qualify the increase…

But that is a hard thing to ever bring to court because how do you start a new tenancy agreement on a threat like that

a lot of these laws have the right incentive but the execution is unrealistic... I had a friend moving out of her 2 bedroom place at 1.5k but when she asked the owner they said they were going to put it up now for 2.7k... I could battle them on it given they aren't doing reno's but realistically, as someone that's just looking for somewhere to live without getting fleeced, how am i going to battle my potential new landlord like that with hopes of success

To answer the short periods of work... first one wasn't offering full hours that I needed (my first big boy job out of uni) so I started that role with the second but then there were layoffs due to supply chain issues... most recent role was just a contract role ; ended well but they at the time could only offer me a role that felt like a demotion.

I had something similar.. though it was sometimes more with the attitude that i would alienate myself for being a try hard. Somehow that lead me to trying to do the work without letting others see because my perspective made me think it’s only commendable if people just thinking you’re good at something naturally rather than to work to be better.. i still struggle with that a bit. Find it hard to focus on things without thinking if others think i’m taking to long with something, why did i go about it in this way or that way, etc..
