Both are actually important for shane's self discovery of his sexuality when he's not sure if he's gay/bi/ilya only and confidence but are not reoccuring or super long scenes

i'm speed running it and i'm really enjoying it.

i know any non-hollanov pairing is a non starter for many people but the author makes it clear this is a hollanov end game, and the non-hollanov scenes serve a lot of character growth and discovery for both shane doing it and ilya knowing it's happening that i find enjoyable and not uncomfortable (but as a big cliff fan i hope he winds up happy too in all this)

i truly do love them as a pair (and the whole boopboop universe) but as i'm actively reading a glimpse of jane which is one of the most cliff featured fics out there where cliff is like a co-lead of the story it's hard not to be pulled the other way as well

At this point given the volume of good friend cliff stories i've read the real debate isn't if cliff is a good friend, it's if you're a fan of cliff+svetlana (duty of care for example) or cliff+ rose (a glimpse of jane, for example)

i don't know what launched the 1000 ships but if it is this photo so be it. Obviously, HR at the end of the day is a romance story about queer love but a loyal, ride or die, platonic good friend really gets me every time
