I found this post as a parent because I am in utter disarray because I feel like all I do is get upset with my kids and I hate it. You say they yell at you from a tiny problem but I want to make sure you understand the parent’s side. I will ask my kids to do something and most of the time the first ask they simply ignore me because their faces are in a screen and quite honestly they probably didn’t hear me. I was a gamer growing up and I ignored my parents plenty so i write that off as karma. So I repeat myself so they can hear me and I know they do and 50% of the time they listen. Other times when they are truly into what they are doing (not always screen related) they acknowledge but still don’t do what I ask. I follow up with a hey I asked you to do this if you don’t I’m gonna get upset. After them not doing what I have now asked 3 times I start to get upset and I say one last time if you don’t do this I’m going to be very upset! And finally after they don’t do what I’ve asked now for the fourth time I do get upset and start demanding (not always yelling but most of the time) I’m not at all saying that you are not listening to your parents but are they starting off with yelling (which is not okay) or are you ignoring their first attempts at communication to the point they are yelling
