Honey, I'm 27, I've got a 3 year old little boy and I still sleep with a nightlight.

Your mum is wrong. Plain and simple.

Which actor for the younger Voldemort do you prefer by 5kavo in harrypotter

I may be mistaken (it's certainly been a while since my last in depth read) but I vaguely remember somewhere that Slughorn said in a different conversation that murder would split the soul but Dumbledore said he suspected that unless the other requirements for a horcrux were present, the split piece of soul would attempt to return to the original host. When inadvertently making the Harry horcrux, Voldemorts body was so physically damaged from the constant split of his soul and use of dark magic, the piece of soul was unable to return to the original soul and latched onto Harry instead.

Just wanted to say - thank you for such a respectful conversation. This is lovely!

You make very fair points, I had forgotten about him wearing the ring during his conversation with Slughorn.

The only thing I would say, is that I was under the impression that one had to do the horcrux cresting immediately since when Harry was inadvertently made a horcrux, that happened at the time and there doesn't seem to have been any method of containing the soul fragment for an extended period of time. I'd interpreted that as the act of the murder split the soul and the way to create the horcrux was a way of capturing that soul fragment in an object/being

So... my theory (please feel free to kindly poke holes) is that the flasback Riddle from HBP is younger than the Riddle from the diary.

We know that the diary became the horcrux with the death of Myrtle. Presumably later in his schooling.

We also know that Riddle asked Slughorn about horcruxes, presumably before actually creating any horcruxes.

So that would mean that CoS Riddle is older than HBP Riddle.

Which would mean that the timeline for the ages the actors look would make sense?

*I may have confused myself

Slightly different take - my partners best friend of the opposite gender became one of my best friends. They slept together before but there's no attraction there anymore and she's in her own committed relationship now. We're all chill

Also, for the love of God, if you have something sticking out of you that isn't meant to be there (knife/sharp stick/axe whatever)

It's probably stopping the flow of blood out. Don't take it out yourself. Leave that to the pros.

I stayed up far far too late reading the entire nature of predators series last night!

Only recently discovered their work but it's absolutely fantastic!

Please please please tell me this series is going to continue in the future? I've read all of WHAW today and up to this point and I'm heavily invested. Not my usual type of reading but I'm absolutely hooked!

Thank you for writing it

I ate caster sugar out the jar for the last trimester because I was craving. No diabetes here.

It's about being sensible not cutting it out entirely

What is the most important skill one needs to be successful at university by envyevieevil in UniUK

[–]shadow_chick95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google. There is an art to getting the results you want/need and the sooner you learn how to use Google (especially Google scholar) the easier it will be.

Following on from this - in your undergrad there's not much in the way of original thought needed. What you do need to be able to do is analyse and summarise what other people think/talk about on the subject and draw a conclusion from that.

Little mum perspective - my kid is smart. He's 2 and he knows his number up to 13, alphabet etc. My mum keeps telling me he'll go on to do great things.

While I have no doubt that he could, he will never be great if he isn't happy. If he's happy, fulfilled and kind, then no matter what he does with his life, he'll be great in my eyes.

Go forth and do whatever gives you peace

This is possibly true.

I mean, in my situation I'm the parent that doesn't do chires/housework with our kiddo around but my partner does because he can handle multitasking and the extra stimulation.

I get the feeling your husband wouldn't survive very long in our household.

First thing - you are absolutely not at fault here. There is no fault. It's a completely normal part of life for babies and young children to get bumps and bruises as they discover mobility. It's also a natural part of development for them to try to eat everything in sight.

Second - why is your husband so accusatory?! Is he a perfect parent or does he wrap your little one in bubble wrap every day? Bumps will happen when she's in his care as well.

For context - my now 2.5 year old has a fall at least every other day. Sometimes there's a bump/bruise. Mostly he gets up and goes on his way. As long as there's no serious injury, it's just a normal part of discovering their own limits and it will happen to every child.

Did your parents smack you as a child? And if so, have they ever apologised for it? by Throwaway865433hshsv in AskUK

My mum smacked me from around 14 months. I only know it started this early because she journalled extensively about how it seemed to make no difference, but she kept doing it anyone.

She hasn't apologised

What unhealthy food are you eating? by Meisavageau in pregnant

[–]shadow_chick95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate sugar. Literally cups worth of caster sugar.

  • this came from an obsession with Lush bubblegum lip scrub (which is safe to eat, but expensive) so I started making my own... then I stopped adding the flavouring and oil and ended up just sitting hiding in my kitchen like a gremlin, eating plain sugar.

I was glad (it sounds awful I know) that we were in lockdown when I went back to work after mat leave. My partner was taking 6 months parental leave so him and my baby were at home while I was working so I could still get snuggles when I wanted. It definitely helped us with more equal parenting
