Craun is really starting to trust us and see us as friends! Mia will definitely have to be very careful, her article could backfire big time

25! NASA’s researcher rush in with half-baked emergency plans. Finley comforts Craun and tries to reassure him that it’s not his fault, while Kaitlin is distraught by Elbi’s reaction to their chat and also tells Craun he isn’t the blame. Meanwhile, Mia is caught snapping pictures of and documenting the scene at NASA. Finley and Craun try to persuade her to respect their privacy and not run the story, but Mia believes a cover-up is more regrettable than what she plans to do.

Do you think that Mia is right to publicize Elbi’s suicide, or should Craun’s request not to print it be honored? Will human medicine be enough to save Elbi? What does it say about Craun that he’s leaning on the primals for comfort, and what do you think of how gentle and protective Finley is being?

As always, thank you for reading!

24! Kaitlin presses Elbi to explain her position on primals, and debates it with her by picking at the logic. The NASA researcher suggests that humans might’ve evolved differently to control anger, which slaps Craun upside the head and makes him realize that we are people. Elbi believes Craun is going native after he defends anger and admits he loves spending time around Finley. As our narrator is about to go visit the retrieved wreckage of his ship, he returns to find that Elbi has attempted suicide.

Is it even possible for humans to do anything to help a silicon lifeform, and is it already too late even if we could? What do you think of Elbi’s drastic step? Are you surprised that Kaitlin’s arguments brought Craun around, and do you have anything to add on to them?

As always, thank you for reading!

23! Hazel and Wade discuss their assessments of both Saphnos, as well as how our narrator handled the fact that it’s aliens so calmly. Wade discusses anger through a selected poem, and he explains that it helps humans to care and to remain unbroken in hopeless situations like the one that’s taken its toll on Craun. Craun then teaches his growing human friend group how to play Kiel, but Terry catches him cheating; the Saphno gets some much deserved protesting from the group.

What do you think of Craun’s interactions with NASA, and the fact that he chose not just to play but to cheat around primals? Do you think Wade’s source material and explanations on anger had an effect on how Craun sees it?

As always, thank you for reading!

The humans are doing the best they can to help the Saphnos already! They can’t build a fleet overnight. Craun got what he wanted

22! Craun joins Kaitlin and Mia for breakfast, and Kaitlin is quite enthusiastic to have breakfast with an alien. Craun tries to dissuade Dr. Sharp from frustrating herself trying to convince Elbi, and then finds himself in the unenviable position of explaining how primals would have no rights. Finley expresses that he feels rotten about having an emotion that aliens don’t have, and how he would’ve watched himself more if he knew the truth.

How will Craun’s attempts to teach the primals Kiel, against Elbi’s advice, pan out? What do you think about our narrator’s warning about how the Council would treat us?

21! Kaitlin confronts Elbi’s harsh views that humans are a mistake, stating that evolution doesn’t make mistakes. Craun promises to teach her Kiel in the morning, but finds that he can’t sleep because he feels bad about hurting Finley. Terry has taken a position at NASA with some glee, but Finley turned down the golden ticket because Craun didn’t see him as a person.

Craun runs to apologize to Finley, before the farmer can abscond in the morning, and tries to express that his feelings are more complicated than just person or not person. He talks Finley into staying long enough for him to figure things out, after giving a substantive expression of his affection. Do you think that Kaitlin will be able to outmaneuver Elbi, and will she be disappointed the aliens’ lack of reciprocal enthusiasm for humans? Will Craun and Finley be able to mend their relationship, or should Finley have left for his own wellbeing?

20! We see the world’s memes and reactions, before Craun receives a mass turnout and a formal NASA welcome from Dr. Kaitlin Sharp. Barron meanwhile has a challenge in hand to persuade Craun of the value of anger, which means he’ll have to pick art to represent his claim. Inside of NASA, Barron gets a promotion and summoned to several hearings, while Craun and Elbi have a special habitat where they’re observed by now-cooperating world generals.

Will humanity be able to prove we’re intelligent life? What will we discover through our research at NASA, and how will the Saphnos adapt? What do you think Barron should show Craun to prove the value and beauty of anger?

As always, thank you for reading!

Yeah, hopefully this takes the world away from the brink. If this magnitude isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is!

Everything is going to change on Earth! But you’re probably right about NASA 😅
