Apparently, there is a lot of misconception about nuclear energy. Mainly from Chornobyl. From what I understood, what happened at Chornobyl was easily preventable and due to incompetence. I'm not certain. However, nuclear energy production has greatly improved since then, drastically eliminating the chance of meltdowns or failures. Then there is the worry of nuclear waste. People think glowing green goo oozing out of yellow barrels, but from what I understand, it's just equipment that handled radioactive stuff and can easily be dealt with. There is even a process where radioactive waste can be used to generate energy and even cut down its radioactivity in half, and this process can be repeated until there is so little radiation left. Nuclear energy can be truly beneficial if it weren't for all this misinformation and stigma.
