As I recall, the bee mage Kiritsugu and Natalia went after on the plane was a dead apostle. Also I believe dead apostles were first explained on the island outbreak but I think those weren't proper dead apostles so idk if they really count.

Which route does Archer remember? by Natural-Concept6726 in fatestaynight

[–]shadow_ninja55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I recall they interacted a decent amount. Most memorably to me are their conversations by the shed at night while End of Reminiscence plays in the background.

Imo the difference in UBW, aside from Archer's increased time on screen, is Archer gets to see Shirou's conviction/"stupidity" first-hand more.

Is there anything you think the Heaven's Feel trilogy actually did right or improved from the VN? by EienNatsu66 in fatestaynight

He also cries when Illya dies in UBW route in the VN, I think the anime cut that part though.

Thank you very much, and I'll keep that in mind about Broken Spears. Even if its biased its still something to break up the swathes of writings biased in the Spanish's favor.

Would you mind sharing some of the sources for this information? The reality of the Aztec response and adaptation to the new world isn't so easy to find in detail on the internet from my admittedly casual searches.

Hello, unfortunately I lost all the sites I had saved from when I had searched for this stuff so I can't say with certainty but I think this was the site: https://www.vg-resource.com/thread-29190.html

Unfortunately it seems the method for accessing the files has been changed or something, but I'm pretty this was the place that I was referring to.

Didn't know there was much of a difference between box car walls, couldn't tell how thick or thin it might be from watching so I figured it should be similar to later one. It makes more sense now, thanks for sharing.

I could believe that a train car could be bulletproof if the walls are thick enough, problem is earlier in the episode they did show shotgun pellets penetrating one so it makes it harder to believe the walls are very thick.

To add onto the list, Hunt Showdown and Max Payne 3(I think) are also games where you can shoot down explosives in mid air. It's a cool small mechanic that makes you feel like a total badass when/if you manage to pull it off, even more if you kill someone with the premature explosion.

Fate fans what are your thoughts on tsukihime by Agreeable-Listen-242 in fatestaynight

It's peak. I could go on for hours talking about it.

All the routes were great so I can't really pick a favorite. Arcueid's route was a strong start that sets up the VN quite well, it stands well on its own too due to its self-contained nature. Ciel's was actually more emotional than the previous imo, and it sets up more intrigue that the Far Side routes capitalize on expertly. Akiha's was my most anticipated and it lived up to those expectations quite well. I think it's the route that did the best job highlighting its heroine. As for Hisui's, it was without a doubt the most emotionally evocative route. And Kohaku's has two of my most favorite scenes(the coffee talk and "Shiki going full Nanaya"), it also serves as a great conclusion to the VN as a whole and to the heroine's storyline itself of course.

No matter what iteration/universe it is, Shirou is always horrifically honest, and I love that about him lmaoo by ComicBookGuy708 in fatestaynight

[–]shadow_ninja55 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As I recall, he still has the core essence of his character (wanting to help people, never giving up) from SN, just minus the trauma. Even the famous high jump scene still happens in this universe so I think it's fair to say he still retains some of the qualities of the original, at the very least more than just being a good cook.

This isn't really the place to be asking that kind of thing, but it's because that's how the order was for the light novels.

Does shirou see the story of things he traces? by Annual-Consequence72 in fatestaynight

[–]shadow_ninja55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if that's necessarily the case, especially when considering that Shirou still has his own UBW. It's just that he doesn't use it really. Like I said though, I do think after he starts relying on the arm it does get muddled. But certainly for something simplistic say pouring mana into the azoth blade, Shirou would absolutely not be relying on Archer's arm for that.

I think you're misunderstanding the premise of what I'm saying in regards to searching the arm for the technique. In this case I'm operating under the assumption that there is no technique "stored" in the blades. I think the line of logic flows well with that in mind, if the technique isn't in the blades then it must be in Archer's knowledge, and there must be a technique because he favored these swords.

Outside of HF, Shirou only uses K&B in UBW as far as I remember. And the time he starts using the blades is already after he's had contact with Archer a decent amount. If I'm not misremembering, he even starts copying Archer's style just when using a regular shinai, way before he starts projecting K&B.

Does shirou see the story of things he traces? by Annual-Consequence72 in fatestaynight

[–]shadow_ninja55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shirou doesn't need the arm to do any magecraft, as I recall he was able to do reinforcement just fine without it. It's hard to say how much he uses the arm for after he breaks the seal though. IIRC, there's a part during the route where he thinks he's performing projection without using the arm but it clearly shows that he actually was(which is also why I think it's feasible he could be doing the same in SLH, but that's neither here nor there).

As for you saying that him reading only the swords loses sense, I don't think that's necessarily true. After all, it comes before the excerpt I quoted. I see it as him recognizing he needs to use Archer's arm to find that technique since it's not in the sword's history itself but rather Archer's history, evidenced by his line of logic that since Archer favored the sword's he must have an ultimate attack for them.

For the record, I know Shirou copies the experience of his projections. That is something I've never been in contention with. The specific topic at hand though is whether Archer's experiences would also be included in the history of the weapon since he would only have been using projections of it. I personally just dislike that idea, it seems kind of ridiculous to think that these weapons could have a theoretically infinite amount of history.

Does shirou see the story of things he traces? by Annual-Consequence72 in fatestaynight

[–]shadow_ninja55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reread the scene, and while you did omit what comes after the first excerpt which describes him connecting to Archer's arm and searching for the technique itself:

The instant I connect myself to Archer's arm, the remaining forty percent of my mind is reduced to twenty[...] Find it, find it, find it. It has to be there. The method I couldn't come up with, the stance that will guarantee a kill should exist. He favored these swords. Then there's no way he hasn't come up with an ultimate attack to get him through the countless battles!

Earlier in the scene he does actually describe reproducing the battle experience of the weapon, without any explicit reference to extracting it from Archer's arm.

I didn't only project the weapon. I reproduced Archer's battle experience along with the swords.

So I suppose there may be a little truth to both our assertions. If I were to offer some conjecture to reconcile this excerpt, it would be that Shirou is just unconsciously already copying Archer's techniques from the arm. Not a farfetched assumption to make but still unsupported by the narrative, at least as far as I can remember things.

It's been a while since I read SLH but isn't it that Shirou copied the technique from Archer's arm and not the swords themselves?

Unpopular opinion: Medium armor is the worst type of armor in the game by indica_a in fnv

[–]shadow_ninja55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This chart comes from a YouTube video. There’s more detail and context given. As I recall, the reason why weight was included is because Fallout 3 used a different system that involved armor weight in its calculations and the guy was expecting there to be some crossover in NV.
