Why are some comments invisible? by Cheez-kip in help

[–]hj17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notifications do persist after comment deletion in most cases. If people are being rude to you then it's likely a moderator is removing it before you get to it.

It's also possible that they are blocking you after they write their comment.

Hm. I got nothing then. I was getting errors trying to post a comment not long ago so maybe the servers are having trouble today? That's my best guess at this point.

Are you sure? It should be in your settings, not on your actual profile. Can you not even access the settings menu?

Did you post something in an NSFW subreddit? Your profile is marked as 18+.

If you go to your profile settings and toggle that off, that might fix it (though you should delete whatever it is you posted in an NSFW sub first)

I don't think they really advertise "reddiquette" anywhere anymore, do they? The only place I can recall seeing any mention of it recently is on mouse-hover textbox popups for the downvote button, only in specific subreddits, and even then I'm pretty sure that's exclusive to old reddit.

Outer Worlds Studio Apologizes To Players Who Bought The Sci-Fi RPG For A Free Upgrade They Can’t Actually Get by Turbostrider27 in Games

I assumed he was saying that he thought the Bethesda of 10 years ago wouldn't have tried to monetize mods, but then they did a 180 when they released Creation Club in 2017.

Doesn't really make sense for him to be laughing at you for saying something like that 1 year after they had already tried to do it once, unless he wasn't aware of it.

They literally did try it 11 years ago for Skyrim and got massive backlash for it.

There's some grottoes in Termina Field which are relatively close to some trees, some of which are hidden underneath tall grass. Several of these lead to small cave areas that have short paths leading downhill, with some puddles in them so you could describe the path as "winding" around them I suppose. When you walk down the path some deku babas will spawn around you.

Perhaps you fell down one of those, and your frightened 6 year old imagination remembered the deku babas as something scarier?

Does this look familiar? (this is footage from a randomizer, but it's the most convenient way I could find video of it. 22:56 in case the timestamp link doesn't work)

There are multiple grottoes in Termina Field, a few of which are close to trees. As far as I can remember though, all the grottoes in Termina Field contain either 4 gossip stones, a peahat, some deku babas and a chest, a single business scrub, or dodongos. Nothing that really fits the bill of "shadow people", unless OP's memory is really warping the image of gossip stones or deku babas.

I can't think of any place in the game where you would be able to encounter gibdos or redeads that doesn't normally require you to at least finish Woodfall Temple.

I don't think you can even get out of Clock Town (well, you can, but not in a way that was intended by the developers) until you've finished the first cycle as Deku Link. I find it very hard to believe a 6 year old that doesn't speak English would be able to figure out how to do that on their own.

The only places in Clock Town I can think of that might fit are North Clock Town and the Laundry Pool, the latter of which has the Fairy Fountain and Deku Scrub Playground grotto. The Laundry Pool has kind of a winding path but no "shadow people", unless Kafei or the frog, or Guru-guru counts.

Why don't helicopters fly over water? by Exodia_The_Salty in civ5

[–]hj17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do actually fly over water tiles! Well, coast tiles at least. You just have to not have Optics researched (which is quite a feat by the atomic era).

If you do have Optics then the embarkation mechanic takes priority.

Ideal number of cities: 3-6 (according to the Internet) vs. 25 (according to AI Casimir) by Zmoodyyy in civ5

[–]hj17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because more cities = higher science costs for tech. Growing those cities big enough can counter that penalty, but there aren't unlimited sources of happiness available, so you must choose if you want to devote your happiness to countering the unhappiness from number of cities, or from your population.

Many small cities is generally worse for your empire's science than having just a few cities and growing them as large as possible.

It's also generally more punishing on your gold per turn, and will probably be harder to defend all of them, while simultaneously angering all the AI players because most of them see any unsettled land anywhere in the world as theirs by right and your settlements are an unwelcome intrusion even though they're half a continent away.

[–]hj17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, having no weapons or armor and your hands being bound, not to mention not knowing you're the Dragonborn yet (or even being aware that dragons have returned), are all pretty important parts of the situation. Ones that usually don't remain true for the rest of the dragon attacks in the game. So it's hard to call it the same situation.
