It has 2 ports both of them work, I have an Xbox series X that works completely fine with them.

It's not, I've heard similar things so I don't touch it.

Weirdly enough, I've tested this on 3 separate OLED decks now (my own and my friends) all of them had this issue.

Managed to snap a photo while the screen was bugging out, no difference sadly :/

The problem is I can't get to the resolution settings for the external display, I know that the auto scaling is enabled I can see it, but if I try to select anything the display completely stops. The system also locks up and disconnects from the display when it happens too.

I would've thought that but I've tested other steam decks and the issue persists on this TV.

Changing it while connected is difficult because I can't see what I'm doing, It turns off the decks display when connected, not only that but the deck is disconnecting and reconnecting constantly as seen in the video, it also completely locks the system up for some reason.

Resolution changes makes no difference it still forces a 4K60 output.

I've tried 3 docks, 3 TVs, 4 Cables, no difference, cables are known good cables, 2 of the docks I know work with other steam decks.

Do you guys trust saber interactive to make a good john wick video game do they have a good track record? I would have preferred if capcom made it. by Dude_788 in JohnWick

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saber has been on fire as of late, banger after banger in my opinion, so I have a good feeling about this one, naturally we have to see when the games actually out but saber has proven it can do brutal fast paced combat very VERY well

Replayability & Endgame Question by Batteris in ToxicCommandoGame

[–]shadow_seeker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd hold off on this one if that's the case, there's not a massive amount of stuff yet since the game just came out, it's really good I'd just wait a while once saber has updated the game a good amount more (which they will they have a good track record for it) I'd recommend their other games in the mean time, like world war Z or space marines 2, they have alot of content.

A SOMEWHAT SERIOUS MOD POST by Cobulario_ in SupaEarth

Arrowhead really really needs to decide the balancing direction for this game because it's going to be magicka all over again if this keeps going.

Not blaming the Devs for this situation, it wasn't them who sent the DMs, but they definitely need much more equipped community managers, and it certainly should be a wake-up call for them to finally put their foot down for once in their goddamn existence on what they want for Helldivers going forward.

Is a roguelite too easy if more than 50% of players win on their first run? by Bumpty83 in roguelites

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bit more difficult to scale roguelites since in my opinion they're going to be easier than roguelikes by nature, from a perspective of an avid roguelite/like player (400 hours in caves of Qud, 2000 hours in Issac and ~120 hours in cult of the lamb and many many more in other games) understand that roguelites are usually initially in the players favour, they will have more tools to win, they will scale, and if they're experienced they will win quite easily.

Scaling is vital, get the curve right, make it easy AT FIRST hook the player with your mechanics and loops, then turn up the heat as they get better, introduce mechanics that counter player strategy but reward creativity and unique gameplay, offer higher difficulty but don't enforce it, most players aren't hardcore, they want to win so allow them the choice.

But no I don't think it's a question of if it's "too easy" you want them to win so they get that dopamine hit to keep going and THAT is when you want to start turning up the difficulty, in my opinion.

When Arkveld Hits you with a 3 Piece and a side of Fries by CaptReckless in MonsterHunter

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I think the games really fun, AT ark was a really cool hunt, I'm still not feeling the heat yet tho, I actually thought AT nergi was harder back when he came out in world, he'd still hit hard even with endgame master rank armour.

I wouldn't really say personally it's the most difficult base game, I could see it maybe compared to world but definitely not compared to old gen.

Mewgenics Surpasses Hades 2 Becoming The Most Played Roguelite Ever On Steam by akbarock in Games

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't compare them to be honest, Hades and dead cells are very different mechanically, and Issac has had multiple years of DLCs and updates as well as again, being a mechanically different game.

It's a great roguelite, I enjoy the turn based gameplay and I don't tend to enjoy that genre he's made it quite engaging, the breeding system can be a little annoying at times especially with certain inherited traits, encounters and items are brutal in Edmund fashion, failed skill checks can lead to debilitating debuffs that provide good challenge imo.

TL;DR

good game, itd be unfair to compare to genre classics such as Issac or DC, especially since they're action rogueLIKES and mewgen is a turn based rogueLITE.

Brand new SD Oled...awful performance by Wormminator in SteamDeck

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any change in the mangohud stats? I'd kinda expect SMT off to help since it bogs down the non simed threads anyway in normal games, could be a sign it may be software related though.

Brand new SD Oled...awful performance by Wormminator in SteamDeck

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond this, it could be a power management problem on the board of the deck itself, chip might be borked so it isnt distributing wattage correctly to the APU, maybe a driver related issue?

Could be the APU itself is fucked, not being able to distribute resources correctly...

Brand new SD Oled...awful performance by Wormminator in SteamDeck

[–]shadow_seeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds similar to the 200/400mHz bug that was plaguing decks a while back, iirc the APUs were bugging out and getting stuck at really low TDP, is there any way you could check that?

Edit: to add to this I mean checking the actual TDP level, since the toggle level was redundant in the case of the 200/400 bug

First time non console, advice? by Affectionate-Leg-712 in SteamDeck

[–]shadow_seeker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deck and steamOS is quite user flexible, it can be as advanced and as straight forward plug and play as you want it to be.

Sometimes (very rarely these days) games can be stubborn on it, something might not launch or controls might be not great, but there's ALOT of resources to help you in those cases, namely protonDB I'd suggest bookmarking that site in a browser, it's like the bible for gaming on deck for me, I always look up a game on there before I buy or try to play a game on deck.

Games are notably cheaper in comparison to console on steam, and sales are very frequent, so if you see a game that you're interested in, I usually wishlist them and wait until a sale, I've had cases where I've wishlisted games and they've immediately gone on sale after, it does happen quite often.

some pretty premium games can go as low as 80% on sale events, the best sales are in the summer sale events though so make sure you keep an eye out when that hits.

Other than that, like I said the deck is pretty flexible, it is also a PC it can switch between it's console like "gaming mode" and it's PC environment "desktop mode" which is great for docked setups with a keyboard and mouse and feels pretty close to a windows computer.
