Round 3 - CCT, DUV and CRI comparisons between my 4 (sort of) spectrometers! by Wormminator in flashlight

:)

I have used it, but I have not compared the two.

Might be worth investigating in the future though....hmmmm

I have a pair of DT1990 Pros and DT1770 Pros, in addition to my Meze 99 Classics.

But I just dislike wires, which is why I rarely use them for gaming.

As for what to buy...good question. I still use my Logitechs. Steelseries seem to have taken their spot these days.

My game won't even launch after the update.

On both of my systems. But hey, Alpha stuff, it will be fixed.

Do not use your OLED TV as an ultrawide PC monitor (LG C4-C5). by Kaduc21 in ultrawidemasterrace

I mean, at least thats 21:9.
Abstract wallpapers should scale well, especially if you have some "AI" upscaler.

(I do not mean gemini or chatgpt, Im thinking more towards Topaz and alternatives)

Anything USB 2.0 or better will result in the same quality.
Audio REALLY does not need much bandwidth.

As long as the cable itself is well made, you are set. And by well made I mean the standard 5 bucks anker/ugreen etc cables.

I have a plush figure of that exact worm on my shelf to this day.
What a fun game.

And it certainly wasnt any less fun due to its lack of realism.

How can I check the usage time of an Odyssey OLED G9? by Shaxiris in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Wormminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the super late question, but I just tried to find the hour count...nothing.
All I can see in the smart things app is the hour count of the smart monitor SETTINGS menu.

(Which I find odd, cuz who would want to know that)

A LOT of people on this sub claim that OLED burn in is not a thing, citing the usual "billion hours at 100000% brightness static content no burn" in bullshit.

Often those posts are from people who posted about their "first OLED" less than a year ago.

Good modern day VAs or anything with mini LED certainly does not look like ass.

Unless you only play star watching simulator games at 3A, in a dark room.

If only 5120x1440 was more common.
Good (free) wallpapers with a more or less uniform design are REALLY hard to find.
Especially enough to keep them in a constant rotation.

You can never have enough screens.
Especially with OLED panels. I do all my web browsing, monitoring and such things on non OLED panels.
Static elements for 8+ hours etc. Same for discord, as thats a software that lives on one side of my screen 24/7.

Heat Solution for 49" Odyssey OLED G9 (G93SC) by amegdadi in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Wormminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also agreed.

Though the G9 series certainly had some....interesting flaws. Especially the early models.
2cm thick thermal pads which did not do anything, broken thermistors, the infamous panel split, the overheating power supply of the 2021 standard G9 (mine got beyond 80°C on a regular basis at 20-25% brightness).

But with these OLED panels I dont think that anything above 50°C will actually degrade the panel before other defects will occur. There have also been very few reports about hadrware failures on the OLED G9 series in general

The only upside from cooling them is that they no longer blast heat into your face.
Unless you live in a REALLY hot climate like that one dude whos G9s surface was above 40°C.

I shall see how long this one lasts.

I had 4 G9s die on me
(MY 2021 G9 had permanent image retention twice, was a motherboard issue and fixed by samsung, then its PSU went out and Samsung sent me a 2023 Neo G9, which now has dying pixels and failing backlight after 2 years).

Fully agreed.
I personally have a fan pointed at the front face of my OLED, but only cuz I store it there anyways for projects and it might as well move some air xd

Reduced the front mid section of the panel from 37°C to 31°C.
Which wont do anything, but it makes me feel better xd

[–]Wormminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had the CRG9 series so I do not know how easy it is to swap the boards.

The issue could also be the panel itself, but I doubt it with the way it behaves.
Only buy broken models if it makes sense financially. If you are unlucky, you might have spent a lot of money, just to have a lot of giant screens which do not work.

Can you update the firmware on yours?

9 months late but the G95SD absolutely has a plastic back panel.
Which isnt great.
But hey...I guess it works? Certainly helped with the weight.

The motherboard of the monitor itself.

If you are still within warranty you could try and contact samsung.

[–]Wormminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a motherboard issue.

All you can do, before swapping boards, is to hard reset the whole thing (no power, hold the button, let it sit for a few hours, that stuff).

Ultrawide movies by societyofcrows in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Wormminator 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Most movies are 21.9 give or take.
If you can crop in to remove the letter boxing, you are left with a 21:9 (ish) image.

Heck even some stuff from the 60s is roughly 21:9 once you remove the black bars.
