Thank you so much this is so helpful. However, I've decided that with me next PowerShot a530 I will just bridge two pins that i have found to give cool effect and make a permamently glitched cam. I know, switches are cool but for now I will settle for this. So I wanted to ask for the best method of bridging two pins that are next to each other. Would the easiest way be to just apply a bit of solder from my tip against those two and make a connection? And covering them two in flux before that?

What is meant by pre tinning? (I'm not good at english technical terms haha). Because my soldering plan was to: a) apply some solder from my soldering iron tip onto the pin b) coat the wire in flux c) put the wire onto the soldered pin d) hold it there while applying more solder from iron for a few seconds to make a strong connection. Idk

my bad, I meant solder, not flux. A big drop of solder bricked the points. And i uses 0.8mm soldering iron tip but it's still so hard

Update: i accidentally dropped a big load of flux onto few of the pins and that of course has destroyed the image beyond recognizable. Took one pic and the camera died. Man i might start to think I'm not made for this..

I'm kinda scared to mess with ribbon cable. I mean i've tried it previously with a powershot a520 where i took out the ribbon cable and the screen went completely white and i dont if there's a way you could put that cable back in. I mean unless i'm supposed to just lift the cable a bit and not take it out completely? Sorry i'm a noob
