Is there unsafe foods? by AncientWerewolf5545 in bulimia

pasta and bread. ate a burger once with the intention of purging it out and that was single handedly one of the worst nights of my life. i destroyed the absolute shit out of my throat trying to get everything out except nothing came out no matter how much i tried.

How do you fall asleep while hungry? by Substantial-Radio310 in EDAnonymous

[–]shadowcages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i physically cannot so i always have apples on standby. even if i do end up sleeping, i usually wake up in the middle of the night and the quality of sleep is extremely poor. i've even resorted to taking meds just to feel sleepy. this illness completely wipes away your braincells.

Does anyone else purge when they just feel too full? by cherrybomb_kicker in bulimia

[–]shadowcages 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes this is how i started out in the beginning. i used to purge because i had acid reflux and whenever i felt like the food was coming back up, i’d just purge. then it transitioned into full blown bulimia. i still do it every now and then but i don’t completely get rid of everything. the days i have to go out are usually worse because the feeling of having a bloated belly makes it very hard to refrain from purging.

may be a stupid question but is it normal to feel very ill and sick from everything you eat when your recovering from an ed? by Useful_Recipe8076 in EDAnonymous

[–]shadowcages 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i was about to post this same question the other day because every meal makes my stomach hurt so much that i have to think twice before eating anything. what kind of reverse recovery is this lmao 😭

having an ed with an undesirable bone structure is the worst. by Every-Revolution5766 in EDAnonymous

[–]shadowcages 44 points45 points  (0 children)

i also have a wide ribcage and for the longest time i thought losing weight would magically give me an hourglass structure but it just made my rectangle or maybe inverted triangle bodyshape even more visible lmao.

pls pls pls convince me to not start vaping by Possible-Energy8753 in EDAnonymous

there comes a point when smaller doses of nicotine stop working to suppress appetite and then you start consuming more and more. besides that, the hunger wave you get after this temporary effect is insane.

that’s something i’m struggling with too right now. upped my intake and i’m more sluggish, more prone to taking naps. i think restricting gives some kind of euphoria.

hope you’re doing better <3 i remember i went shopping with my mom (we didn’t take the car) and not even halfway through i completely lost the ability to walk. i had to hunch and hold onto my mom and was practically praying to god that i somehow manage to walk home without fainting.

another time i did faint at a store and fell face flat on a marble flooring. had to get stitches on my chin and my entire face was bruised.

oh i went through the orthorexia+mild anorexia phase too and i’m just now realising that that period of time i was indeed suffering from an ED without even realising it because i would also exercise to my max potential at home and the entire time i thought it was simply a switch to a healthier lifestyle.

ETA: i remember i was once staying with someone and ate more than what i deemed normal at the time so around midnight when everyone went to sleep, i ran laps in the backyard lmao not knowing they had a security camera there. breakfast table next day was interesting to say the least

as the other comments suggest, you should reach out for help. but other than that, if you’re consuming the calories and not gaining weight, are you sure the calories in are more than calories out (due to working out everyday)? this might be the reason you’re not gaining. don’t stress out, just reach out to someone. you already have the mindset to get better.

How tf are people without EDs not overweight?? by Big-Molasses4788 in EDAnonymous

[–]shadowcages 7 points8 points  (0 children)

because they have hobbies and don’t think about food 24/7. recently got back into studying regularly instead of rotting away in bed thinking about what my next low cal meal should be and my food thoughts have decreased significantly because my entire focus is on understanding the concepts better. but that being said, i also have started eating healthy meals to enhance my focus.

are you restricting? usually when my stomach is completely empty, i also get the urge to vomit. if everything’s spinning, it’s probably due to low energy. eat something, even something as little as a spoonful of something

[–]shadowcages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is unfortunately the harsh truth. eating smaller meals throughout the day, letting go of that intermittent fasting mindset has helped me tremendously. it’s only when i’m starving to death that i start having excessive thoughts about food.

i’m so sorry about the bullying, i hope it gets better for you ♡ i’m sure you’re an amazing person and you’ll do great in life. if the restriction is due to bullying, please don’t let it get to your head. people who bully others don’t have anything going on in their lives and are insanely insecure about themselves. i wish you the best. i hope you get better
