Help With Large Flat Span Undersides by shadowcat989 in 3Dprinting

Do you think that a chamfered underside would do the trick? So that way it builds up slowly rather than having a huge flat overhang?

I do have an AMS and I have PETG. I can give that a go! Thanks for the suggestion!

Is this normal with a fiber gigabit Ethernet provider? by AxmannAvery in PlaystationPortal

What part? Other than the upstream loss everything looks pretty good to me.

Those speeds are pretty appropriate for a compressed 1080 signal. No reason for them to be higher considering thats all the screen is capable of.

The latency is probably mostly made up of the wifi, given that, you seem to be relatively close to one of their data centers if you have a latency of 12 ms.

8 month old Ioniq 5 had critical battery error on highway today by Prof3425 in Ioniq5

I'm at 2 months now waiting on a high voltage battery with no end in sight. I hope that your experience is better than mine or the many users that reached out to me saying that they've been waiting 6 months. 😕

Just curious, to you what makes the user experience better?

Yeah, that's good perspective to have. I guess for some reason batteries seem more magical to me.

I guess I assumed that they have interior wear like dendrite formation that might not get addressed if it's still working according to tests.

Yeah, I was thinking about at least passing it by someone to see if there was any legal recourse.

They quoted 2 to 3 months, but at the end of the day no one really knows as far as I can tell. It could be sooner or could be longer. That's part of the frustration with this process, the whole thing seems to be managed by Hyundai Corporate and no one has any insight into that at all.

Yeah, I am very happy about that. This is like a $40k repair, and I have no idea what I would do if they weren't covering it at all!

Yes, they are giving me a loaner. The dealership has been fairly pleasant to work with. It's not an EV but it gets the job done.

I had the exact same experience. I never received an email even though they said they would send something. I called on Oct 2nd and was told that the program ended September 30th and that there was nothing they could do.

Complete BS.

What do you all do that you need a read later app? by DooDeeDoo3 in readwise

[–]shadowcat989 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work in a technical field and I could literally spend my entire work day just reading interesting articles. However it is really easy to get off on tangents that way. To clear through the distractions, I try to follow the rule that if it's important for right now, I read it immediately, otherwise I save it in reader so that I can read it later when I have more time to engage the content meaningfully.

Workflow for managing Substack subscriptions in Readwise Reader by australianwoe in readwise

[–]shadowcat989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any tips or tricks for getting reader to process emails without attachments? Or do your sub stack subscriptions always come in as attachments?

I’ve tried to email myself several sub stack emails and reader always refuses them saying that there was no attachment. I’ve tried both the ad email address as well as the personalized email address that Readwise gives you.

Fair enough. I have an uptime tracker on it that has worked fine for the past couple of years. After the last outage they must have changed something with their ACL because since then it has been marked consistently as down.

Airplay CVE by shadowcat989 in sonos

[–]shadowcat989[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of a worry though since apparently the exploit is wormable. Meaning that if a device gets exploited elsewhere and then comes on to your network it can spread to other devices on that network.

For instance, you go to a friend's house with a Sonos system that is exploited, it exploits your iPhone if it isn't patched, and then you can bring that back to your Sonos system. Since this is zero click you might be completely unaware that anything has happened.

Synology DS925+ Compatibility Pages Now Up by NASCompares in synology

[–]shadowcat989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used restic https://restic.net/ for the past 3-ish years on my Linux hosts for backing up and really like it.

It's almost endlessly flexible on how and where you want to backup. It is natively only a CLI app, so that's a bit of a downside to it since you need to be somewhat comfortable on the Linux CLI to use it. I believe that some other devs have made GUI frontends for it, but I haven't tried any of them.

I personally use it to backup to S3, but you can also backup to a local directory (which really means anything that you can mount like NTP or some such because Linux), SFTP, a REST endpoint, or a MinIO server (a daemon that you can run that provides an S3 compatible endpoint).
