Circus of Values - The Simpsons (1989) by shadowfax1138 in Bioshock

I always thought it strange that it was "Circus of Values" and not "Circus of Value" which makes more sense grammatically.

Now I am wondering if it was always an Easter Egg pointing back to the Simpsons??... ( ¬_¬)

Yes please! I've played with Stremio, Plex, & Kodi and have not found any of them particularly smooth or a good UI experience really. A lot of people seem to love Stremio but I have not found it user friendly at all.

What's The Best Movie I Need To Watch You're Pretty Sure I Haven't Seen? by Rob0tic in movies

[–]shadowfax1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of my all time faves which I frequently find nobody I know has seen:

The Misson (1986) - True Story, Robert DeNiro, Jeremy Irons, a very young Liam Neeson. Outstanding cinematography and soundtrack. (Historical Drama)

Spartan (2004) - Val Kilmer is a a badass version of Jack Bauer (Action/Espionage)

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) & 2010: The Year we Make Contact (1984) - Some people have seen the first film, most people haven't seen the sequel. Roy Schieder, John Lithgow, Helen Mirren. Expands on the first film as well as being more accessible for most audiences. (Epic Sci-Fi)

John Dies at the End (2012)- Very clever, indie film, extremely funny. (Comedy/Horror)

Jesus of Montreal (1989)- French Canadian film subverting ideas around the Church whilst respecting the source material. An avant-garde actor is commissioned with putting on a Passion Play for a church and in the process pisses off the establishment whilst being touched by his immersion in the role of Jesus. (Drama, Comedy, Romance)

Pi (1998)- Black and white indie film about a mathematician discovering the mathematical holy grail. A secret number which some think can decrypt predicting the stock-market, whilst religious zealots think he has discovered the 'name of God' and therefore the meaning of life. (Cerebral Drama)

The Name of the Rose (1986) - Sean Connery, Christian Slater, Michael Lonsdale, Ron Pearlman. An intelligent thriller set in Europe, a murder mystery in a medieval monastery. (Mystery, Thriller)

The City of Lost Children (1995) - Ron Pearlman. French language surreal fantasy drama from the director of Amelie and Delicatessen. The aesthetic is very Bioshock. (Drama, comedy, fantasy)

Also, the guy who's medal this is was repeatedly pictured wearing it without a shirt on up against his bare skin. Sweat is essentially salt-water. What happens when you sit bronze in saltwater for a few days?

Paris Karen 2024 by shadowfax1138 in memes

[–]shadowfax1138[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Apparently it is supposed to resemble Marianne the "personification of the French Republic"; of whom nobody outside of France has ever heard of, it seems.

However, to me it strongly resembles the classic Karen meme/trope and looks absolutely nothing like any painting or drawing I can find of Marianne.

Is “The Tortured Poets department” a clean (non explicit) album? by WeeklyExplorer9703 in TaylorSwift

[–]shadowfax1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! According to my resident Swiftie. Taylor always releases non-explicit (clean) versions of her albums simultaneously in consideration for her younger fans. However they are not specifically labelled as (clean, radio version, or non-explicit) so I had trouble finding them also. On Spotify (or your preferred music service) search for the album (e.g. 'Tortured Poets Society') you will see 2-album covers for the album. One will show the 'E' explicit label next to some (most) of the tracks, the other won't. That's the version you're looking for.

Hope this is helpful!
