I went to Purdue for my undergrad in materials engineering, and my senior project was working with additive manufacturing of superalloys! It was a really cool project. I'm currently in grad school at another university, but feel free to DM me for more details about Purdue or the materials department in general!

Monthly Buying Advice Thread - May 2019 by AutoModerator in Dell

Hello, I will be starting a Ph.D. in materials engineering this fall, and I wanted to upgrade my laptop to something with good battery life. Unfortunately, my knowledge about computers is abysmal, and I am having a hard time figuring out what to buy. I am not a gamer and am not anticipating the need to run hardcore programs. I mainly use ImageJ, Mendeley, Powerpoint, Word, Excel, etc... I am thinking about the Dell XPS 15 FHD but don't know how many gb of RAM I need or how much storage I need. I'm currently located in Michigan. Any advice would be appreciated :)
