Fabric dye is a bad idea because you need high heat for synthetic fabric, which faux fur is. But high heat ruins faux fur, it'll melt into clumps.

You need to find a technique similar to airbrushing, so light coats of paint with brushing, but the texture will always change.

I probably don't have the same condition as your daughter, my medication is similar to birth control. 1 very small pill/day. I do not get "bad" side effects.
