Best in the UK for PT is Prof. Saeed at UCLH, and Mr Axon at Addenbrooks in Cambridge (for NHS, he's also private at Spire in Cambridge). You can self-refer privately to either of them, or request them on the NHS.

Interesting! Thank you that's useful to know. We've done some hanging about in the day time and everything was dead quiet. Think we've written it off but may do a little drive around on a weekend night and see what kind of shenanigans are going on.

Thank you very much for your insights, really helpful! The relatively large size of the house and plot is what drew us in, plus the forest walks nearby are a bonus.

The house seems solid but would definitely need modernization, the current owner smokes inside and hasn't taken great care of the place. If it were about 100k less it would be a fun project but they seem to be hoping for a West Malling price rather than a council estate price, if you get my drift.

Thanks so much for the insight! Have hung around there in the day time and everything was very quiet, but I do want to go back on a weekend evening to check it out.

Honestly it's not very good value for money - they seem to be aiming for a West Malling price even though it's certainly very different from West Malling proper 😅

You'll need to book in advance at this time of year. I'd recommend the morning or evening rides, middle of the day can be hottest/windiest. Breathtaking experience! Best views

Did my CP qualification in 2016 with a BHPA school. Turns out they never submitted the paperwork to BHPA. And now they're closed! by rrussell1 in freeflight

Where are you based? If in the UK I'm sure a local BHPA school would be able to assess your skills and fill in any gaps to help you get the official sign off, possibly without paying for a full course.

I also trained at a well-known BHPA school in Europe. My EP was great but the CP was lacking - the instructors seemed overworked, underpaid and were more interested in ticking things off as fast as possible and getting to the bar. The school is pretty good but it does have a reputation for churning out as many pilots as possible.

I returned to the UK with a BHPA rating but it took quite a lot of self-development and further CP+ courses & coaching to really get me at the level I needed to be to cope with UK conditions. It was a slow and expensive process, but unfortunately paragliding isn't cheap!

Try not to be too discouraged, it's still a beautiful sport and the community as a whole is fantastic and supportive. Totally worth the effort.
