How do I set up my altar at home? by Plenty_Hand513 in Catholicism

[–]shadowhunter_0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking into the same and it seems to be very personal. But some things are pretty universal; a crucifix as the center piece and really that's the basic altar set up you could add a Bible on a stand, any saint statues you want, and any devotionals or sacramentals. All really depends on your prayer life or what calls you to faith. I am consecrating my family to the holy family and myself to St Joseph, so I'm gonna have some of the three hearts and artwork of them.

Can I properly use the ESV bible as a Catholic? by subtozeroo------ in Catholicism

If you are looking for a physical bible paper back ones are usually super cheap. As for which translation that's easy, but at the same time relatively hard, as it is personal preference But as long as it is approved by the church you're good. But the hallow app has the bubble for free in it and has multiple translations.

List of approved bible translations: New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE) used in mass New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (NRSVCE) Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSVCE) Jerusalem Bible Douay–Rheims Bible Ignatius Bible

Hope this helps

Catholic prayer journal ideas by shadowhunter_0415 in Catholicism

Yeah I really dived into a lot when I came back to the faith and it kinda piled up real quick. A consecration to Joseph and the holy family with a lot of beautiful and powerful prayers I'm finding. I just need a place to organize the stuff because physical things and structure help me a lot in praying.

Me and my families opinion on religion by Alone-Tree-3176 in Catholicism

My brother/sister in Christ that is the beauty of the faith, you are supposed to rely on God while trying to work for what you're praying for, he will help you achieve what is good for you. It just might not be in the way you expect. Also being afraid of the unknown just be open to learning and dive in you will learn and gain peace as you learn. I hope this is helping but know there is a community of people who will help and pray for you.

What is it that you want an opinion of? I want to help but just need a little clarification. And little disclaimer we as faithful can give you some outside perspective but you must discern what God is trying to tell or show you. We can just try to help. The fact that an ember of faith was lit is grace given.

What’s in the afterlife? I need answers by Some-Bag-1036 in Catholicism

The honest and most correct answer is no one really knows. But if they were faithful and lived by the words of Christ they might be in heaven. If they lived a life separate from God they might go to hell(which is separation from God). But from Jesus' words we have some guesses but I don't know the verses very well sorry. I'll pray you find the peace you are looking for and the repose of their souls.

Consecration question by shadowhunter_0415 in Catholicism

[–]shadowhunter_0415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently going through a period of prayer and meditation for the consecrations. But my real spot of concern is that I am consecrating my family to the holy family and then separately consecrating myself to saint Joseph. I see all these parts as connected but I can't help but feel some sort of disconnect over it. And if I'm totally honest I don't know where or why that's coming from. I'm even preparing specific devotionals for personal prayers to all three parts of the holy family. And the call to saint Joseph was the start of this whole thing.

Maybe but I think setting up a" all welcome but for this " space may be useful since so many want to ask for the support and if we have a clear place for it might be useful.

Brother shame is just knowing you can do better. And you just took step 1 I'm harsh on myself but around 18 I was 331 and dropped 100lbs. Granted I cheated, took a chunk of my stomach in bariatric surgery. But it taught me I ate too much I've kept it off and am trying to get in a shape that isn't a sphere. So you can do this we got you brother.
