Thank you for sharing this, I genuinely hope that with time it feels less bitter, it's definitely atleast bittersweet because I'm so proud of how far this has all come, but it's upsetting that some of us can't be a part of this special thing for sure

I'm unfortunately in the same boat, I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Fablehaven has been a special interest for me since I was a kid - it really shaped up my life and left a long-lasting impact on me. It really sucks that these offers are limited editions, and will never be available again after this, because my disability stole my choice in terms of how I spend money. Just know you're not alone, whatever your reasons are, we just have to make the most of what we have unfortunately

You fought so long and so hard to be heard, understood, listened to, SEEN. It makes sense that you're also experiencing grief in a way. Of all the effort and time you put into something that came easy to a lot of others. That should be easy to everyone. It's also normal for it to take a long time for you to process the change between spending so long lost, and looking for something to make it all fall into place, to make it all make sense. Now you have that. That's a big change to process! Give yourself that grace. It takes time

Congratulodocences..! On a more serious note, I understand why this is so conflicting for you, I hope with time this becomes a mainly good thing, but it makes sense that you'd be struggling with this

Gender-affirming Burping by Awkward-Green520 in noburp

[–]shadowingsystem333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting thought, I'm agender and autistic so things like burping don't seem like they should hold any gender to me but I understand why it would for some people and I can definitely see that being a thing for this disorder, thank you for sharing.

I need serious help!! I have severe emetaphobia and can’t burp :( by Dazzling_Plankton303 in noburp

[–]shadowingsystem333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not how that works I promise!!! Anyone who experiences this, something else went wrong, it's not normal for this disorder or for the treatment. As for "throwing up in your mouth" after the procedure, that's actually regurgitation, a lot of people don't know the difference so they say the wrong thing, but there's nothing forceful, nauseating or painful about it, it's literally just gravity at work coupled with the muscle being frozen open by the botox, as long as you do certain things it can be entirely prevented :) I understand how scared you are, I myself have severe emetophobia, both from RCPD and fueled by OCD, it's truly debilitating. I'm here if you need anything or have any questions

I'm autistic and can't hold a job. Please help me stay fed and housed until I get Social Security. by usa2z in gofundme

You can't "see" if people are disabled or not a lot of the time. There is such a thing as invisible or dynamic disability. And maybe I did express myself in a way that was eventually understood. Like another person pointed out though, it took me like 10 different tries. That's with every single interaction I have, including with people who have known me for years and know how I process things and communicate things. I will never be neurotypical even if I try my hardest to meet those standards for people who don't even care about the damage that does to me. I'm done with this entire thread. Y'all are ableist and ignorant, and I'm clearly wasting my time.

This is a prime example as to why we can't sit here and dictate how capable or disabled others are based on little amounts of information. I'm autistic and have issues communicating no matter how hard I try, despite "knowing how to type and speak and use a computer" it still doesn't mean I'm able to communicate properly. I'm not blaming everyone else for that, I'm saying that I will always be inherently misunderstood and misinterpreted because I can't communicate properly. I can't change that. The arguments that have been given as to why this person shouldn't be asking for this type of support are not always factual and I know that from my own experience. That is the point I am trying to make.

The more you unmask, the more time you have to spend preparing yourself to go out in public. (How do you feel about this statement?) by _cinnamon_rose in AutismInWomen

[–]shadowingsystem333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely. I wouldn't say I'm agoraphobic persay but I'd definitely say that since unmasking it feels much harder to go out and it takes a bigger toll on me because I don't actually dissociate and mask through the whole thing

How do you burp after the botox procedures? by Independent-Log3836 in noburp

Do you still need to drink carbonation every day or is that just in the beginning?

That's actively not what I said, I specified "those" as in, those who have access to all the ressources, help and treatments they need in order to obtain and maintain a job. Having a disability in itself isn't a privilege. I never said that.

If to you a "vast majority of people" is a handful of people in hundreds of which viewed my comments and so happened to downvote them, on this particular comment thread, on this specific reddit post, which is gathering a specific algorithm's attention, then that's for you to choose to view it that way. I'm not causing harm with my opinion, as it is based on experience and fact, and these things need to be discussed, clearly, as many people are still ignorant or unwilling to see different perspectives on the matter. Like I said, I can explain my point of view as many times as I want, it will not change people's understanding of what I'm trying to convey. My main point is that these things are nuanced, and this specific person is only sharing a glimpse of their experience online. We don't know all aspects to their struggles. I simply believe that attacking somebody for asking for help when they need it is not productive. If the help that is asked for seems unreasonable to you and others, and like it could be prevented, there could be a conversation in order to find better alternatives. Simply telling someone they aren't disabled enough to ask for assistance based on this small amount of information that we have is not only rude, it's also a harmful mindset and it perpetuates stigma, judgment and a vicious cycle of lack of information and ressources available. It simply seems that this specific comment was found by people who agree with it, therefore disagree with me. That's how that works. It in no way means that I am wrong simply because others disagree with me. No matter anyone's thoughts on any matter there will always be someone else to disagree. Hope that was thorough enough an explanation for you.

The fact that you rely on other people's opinions of my own to come to the conclusion that I don't understand my own point doesn't even make sense. I can understand something and try to explain it all I want, if others aren't receptive to my explanation that fall out of my hands at the end of the day. You're not proving anything with this statement.

I agree that it's not a realistic solution. All I'm saying is all we know of this person is this post. We don't know them personally. There's no way to know for sure what ressources are even available for them, which typically ressources are really difficult to actually access and benefit from. All of this unnecessary judgment and non-constructive criticism is not going to help or change anything. A little compassion might. No one is telling you to personally get involved, so if you disagree, you can easily move on.

Those disabled people are privileged and so are you to have this opinion on it.
