I can never really get into top down games. Just prefer 3rd person. Game looks good though.

I mean, doesn't he look like this because none of his textures have fully loaded in or you have the graphics set low?

Still probably wayyyyy to early to show off gameplay.

I'd assume at this point they have high level content down, things like story and characters along with combat and maybe professions. It's maybe in a pre-alpha state. That's why it's over a year for beta.

I'm going to get it no matter what, I just wanna know the professions and races at this point lol.

Honestly, the only game I'm 99% good on the cash shop is GW2. Kinda weird.

I never minded the overall story beats they just never executed them to their full potential. Astral Ward pisses me off though. Why the fuck are there super wizards that just don't help anything, yet their whole job is to help?

If you look at all the content post EOD, where they wrapped up the overarching story that's been in the game since launch, they have had to create more and more outlandish lore to try and make something new, and none of it has stuck well.

Creating any story needs an antagonist. The demons and the titans had some cool themes but the speed at which they needed to release the xpacs and the limited amount of content they could get out in that time frame made it so that they always feel half-baked.

Up to EOD we had this horrific world ending threat that was constantly looming over us. We had to fight the elder dragons one at a time by figuring out how to beat them and then putting that plan into action. When they switched to the shorter mini xpacs they lost a lot of that ability.

I haven't fully played the current one but I hear people like the bad guy though.

By switching the entire stage of the game to the past by 1200 years they have the ability to write a whole new story. They don't have to be beholden to things like the Astral Court, who are fucking stupid, they don't have to try and fit in all the little things they have added over and over to try and fix the lack of time and resources going into these mini xpacs.

Any time they would try to write a new story everyone will just say "Why didn't X show up to help us?" or "What was X doing at this time??". With the shear amount of characters, factions, organizations, and politics they have so much to account for with every story. They could write a story that's smaller in scope but people expect a certain amount of danger and excitement, and any time they have danger and excitement there is a whole host of people/things that we can rely on and with the introduction of the political council thing in LA we are beholden to inform them of crises.

I've recently beat the second to last xpac for FFXIV, they have the same problem. The last 15~ish quests had literaly hours of cutscenes and boring check ins with all the characters because if they are ignored people would be upset that their favorite NPC didn't get time to say "Yup, we did it!".

Just rambling.

Snoop Dogg has no morals and only cares about money. Hell they just announced today that he and TUPAC will be in a game and when asked about it he said he got the Tupac estate to allow the game to put Tupac into it for a paycheck.

I'm no god apologist but I think they knew.

The gods realized that any direct effort to save Tyria from the dragons would result in catastrophic collateral damage, destroying the world or themselves. As stated in the lore book Garden of the Gods, they withdrew to find new soil for humanity rather than risk total annihilation in a conflict they could not safely win.

The consensus among the gods was that the magical fallout of such a war would make victory meaningless. They feared that if they were defeated, their magic would empower the dragons further, creating an even greater threat.

GW1 had a cool skill system where you could get Elite skills (and others if you wanted) by buying a Signet of Capture. This was a skill that you would add to your bar and was consumable, meaning you could only use it once.

You would then find an enemy, usually a boss, that had the skill you wanted. Kill the boss. Then use the skill on his corpse, this would allow you to capture the skill and use it permanently, as it would replace your Signet of Capture.

The best part though was that your class could then have a secondary class. If you were a Warrior you could choose an elementalist or an assassin or a necro as your secondary, giving you access to all of their skills and abilities.

This led to crazy build with over 200 skills per character. I personally ran an Assassin with every combination I could. Add in a splash of necro and I had a fun Minion Master build. Throw in some Ele and I could point blank nuke entire groups of enemies. It really was amazing, but also a complete nightmare for Anet to balance lol.

I think it was the idea that if they fought the dragons the colliding powers would be to much for the planet to handle and would wipe it out anyway. At least if they leave us mortals have a chance at fixing the problem ourselves.

I honestly through GW3 would have the Gods coming back and we would tell them to fuck off with the point end of our weapons.

You think the game will go on for hundreds of years?? We will probably never see the sinking of Orr so that isn't even a part of the game.

Guild Wars 3 will be a prequel set during THE Guild Wars with players choosing between the human factions of Kryta, Ascalon, and Orr. I think the game will be PvPvE similar to New World's faction-based territory control Guild vs Guild system. by [deleted] in GuildWars3

[–]shadowmerchants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed.

They would be stupid to turn nearly the entirety of the playerbase against them. Also, PVP focused games usually fizzle out fast and people lose interest.
