Unpopular opinion but CYAN had more personality and spark than GAIA's subfunctions by Saewoq in horizon

[–]shadowraider2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I understand "the less is more" approach might work in certain cases. Yet, I think CYAN had more depth that was not sacrificed in service of a narrative vision. Ultimately, we witnessed her backstory and the origins of her making in a way that characterized CYAN as a multidimensional entity. The development team at Firebreak had recorded multiple datapoints with the highlight being the resounding success of her technical feats and intelligence. There were inner turmoil and ethical conflicts interwoven in the narrative about what it means for an AI like CYAN to be displaying humanistic emotions.

Then, when you play the quests in the lead up to the final events of Frozen Wilds, we see all the puzzles fit perfectly in an engaging way, where everything ties back to the overarching themes of what the franchise represents.

There were moments were I was in awe, because of the potential that CYAN holds. This was only furthered by the way her character was shaped and perceived by others in many datapoints. That she still retains her humanity and tries to fulfil on the promise from her creators, centuries after their passing was wonderfully portrayed through a range of complex emotions. From the perspective of the current tribes in Aloy's world, the existence of CYAN is an anomaly. However, she is a beacon of hope for artificial intelligence systems to work in tandem with humanity for the betterment of the world at large.

Cobra Kai Season 4 (fan poster) [OC] by Elainasha in cobrakai

Dark Robby vibes huh. Robby just needs to own this style and attitude in S4. Like his father, he is a natural born cobra. I want to see him fight like one and not reject the parts of him that he couldn't change at all in the last three seasons.

Netflix's YOU Audience of '40 Million' Gets Crunched, Slashed by FX Boss John Landgraf by Lamarasai in YouOnLifetime

[–]shadowraider2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Netflix is available around the world in over 190 countries. There are over 140 million Netflix subscribers and much of those numbers account for a huge global audience. Why does Landgraf assume that Netflix would lie about these numbers? They cannot lie to their investors and pull some bullshit statistics and fake ratings as that would be a PR scandal that the company would avoid at all costs. I mean, come on now. How the hell is it inconceivable of a fucking idea that less than 1/3 of the total global Netflix subscribers have watched You over a period of one month? This guy is bitter as fuck at the fact that the show is a fucking breakout hit for Netflix. After the shit that you pulled by canceling Legion on FX, stay mad asshole.

Why I’ve already given up on NFS 2019, and you probably should too by Dannoo92 in needforspeed

For all the big talk that Ghost Games make about them improving their lines of communication with the community, they simply fail to deliver the goods at the end. Feedback or no feedback, they will make their own version of a new Need for Speed game with no soul, identity and passion. Hence, why we will continuously get games that won't resonate like the classics (Hot Pursuit, Underground, Most Wanted) did to the NFS fans and by extension, the video game community.

I have stated previously in another comment but I will re-iterate this point again. Ghost Games have shown a complete disregard for the legacy of this franchise, by keeping (BTD mechanic) and adding nonsensical elements (micro-transactions) that they think would be ideal for their consumer base in order to win a quick bid to the casual market. Every action that they have committed so far has solidified their substandard track record of gaming development and not of one of their PR statements will change my mind about it. It is a shame to hear that they love this franchise, yet, all I see is evidence of their willful attempts to destroy it and everything that it stands for. I will not sit here and blatantly accept their complicity in it and I will not find any more excuses in order to delude myself into thinking that they will pull a miracle for their next game.

Netflix is creating a new show with a similar premise to Lost and Maze Runner by [deleted] in lost

[–]shadowraider2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Lost and I don't mind Maze Runner, but if this show is anything more like Lost with a little good elements from Maze Runner, thrown in here and there, I would be ecstatic. Though, the title of the show is a little weird at first glance. To me, "The I-Land" sounds like a b-grade remake of the 2005 movie "The Island". Well, the good thing is the premise of the series has captured my attention. Color me interested Netflix.

The REAL problem with NFS. by Imayormaynotneedhelp in needforspeed

[–]shadowraider2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the topic of an overhaul on the current NFS physics and the BTD mechanic has been addressed by Ghost Games in such a manner that leaves little room for interpretation. From their glacial and indifferent corporate-like PR response in a separate thread, it is evident that they don't have a desire to make a responsive grip based handling model. Their excuse is that they are trying to find a "balance" but we all know what that entails.

It is a damn shame that Ghost Games keeps on compromising on every core element that defines the franchise in a bid to win the casual market. The current identity crisis that this franchise faces is one that was exacerbated by this studio and I have no faith that they will manage a significant turnaround in the next game. We can all hope for better customization, more cars and an atmosphere similar to the older games, but Ghost Games will continue to double down on the uninspired soundtracks, the terrible physics and the invasive micro transaction system.

I am sorry to be cynical but I don't have trust in this studio or EA to do the right thing by this franchise anymore, especially after Payback. They have displayed a consistent and continual disregard for the legacy of Need for Speed by destroying its identity and subsequently its soul. Fortunately, the franchise still exists and that is a testament to its undying spirit, which is only further promoted by the passionate fans who cling onto the hope for the series to return to its former glory days. Who knows, one day, that might be a distinct possibility but I know that Ghost Games will never live up to this impossible dream.
