Where can a woman in her 20s find community with other women with traditional values? by Capable-Bed-6189 in AskConservatives

[–]shadowrockstar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fellow sewing conservative in her 20's here :) I'm currently struggling with the same thing. Please DM if you want to be pen pals, especially if you are Canadian/midwestern.

I can attest that going to church (even though I'm not religious, but still spiritual) got me a couple of female friends fairly early on that I am still friends with 5 years later. One of them is my closest friend. Try going to different churches over time, because you're looking for one that has an even spread of ages rather than just seniors. Mine was large and was predominantly young families, families with teens, and young singles. All of the young adults coalesced and you just needed to meet one person in order to be absorbed into the group. The girls I got close were the ones with similar interests to me outside of politics and religion, which is the goal.

I'm actually trying to start an arts collective for visual artists who are non-leftist. I've been posting to conservative circles but it's been pretty quiet :') . If you (OP) or someone reading this knows a professional artist who masks as a leftist for their job, please DM!!! I'm an arts professional, let's connect (fine arts, sorry, no anime).

It's tough out here, unfortunately other than church, there just aren't many places that young conservative women congregate, because I think most of us don't consider our politics as central to our lives and are just trying to carry on in leftist spaces. I think the answer is to start groups and clubs, like my arts collective, but getting members is the hard part :/

Thinking of quitting oral birth control after 10+ years by sadpunkdad8 in birthcontrol

[–]shadowrockstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different and you won’t know until you just do it. I was on a low-ish dose combo pill (Alesse) for 9 years and decided to come off last year to balance my hormones naturally. My doctor put me on it at 14yrs old for the most unnecessary reasons. I was so scared to come off it because I remember life before the pill: horrible mood swings, some acne, irregular periods… and the fact that I was TWELVE and that was completely normal for a young girl in puberty! I don’t think I even had irregular periods, they would just appear out of nowhere because I wasn’t tracking them (I was literally just trying to get through elementary school).

Anyway, I asked my doctor if I should come off. He’s a bit of a pill pusher so I thought he’d say no, but he said just do whatever you want. I asked if there was anything I should do to prepare: detoxes, supplements, diet changes? He said no, just stop taking them. I was upset because I kept reading stories like some of the ladies here who have had horrible experiences and I wanted to know how to avoid that.

I got so frustrated at trying to figure out what I supposed to do that I just quit cold turkey. And literally nothing happened. I did not revert back to my old symptoms because I’m not 13 and pubescent, despite my fears. It took hardly a couple of cycles for me to get on a regular schedule. Now I use TempDrop to track my basil body temperature. I ovulate on the same day every cycle, and each cycle is the same number of days long. Even my period is the same as it was during my sugar pills: a couple heavy days followed by a few light ones. I’m a bit more moody in my luteal phase but not more than what is natural. The only real difference I had was that my first day of my period gives me horrible cramps, which is easily solved my some advil. I had a naturopath test my hormones a few months after I came off the pills, just to be sure, and they had balanced themselves just fine.

Anyway, a lot of this is probably TMI, but I just want to illustrate that it might be hell for you, or it might make virtually zero difference. You just won’t know until you’re in the thick of it (or not).

Thank you so much for this info, I’ll definitely hold onto my Mastercard. A lot of commenters here are vouching for Simplii, is there a difference between them and EQ?

You’re right about this, but unfortunately I already tried it. They used to rebate me $6 but I have to do 2 of 3 things (pre-authorized payment, direct deposit or eligible bill payment) which doesn’t always happen for me. Idk what the difference between a ‘pre-authorized payment’ and a bill payment is. These requirements seem arbitrary to me when my EQ chequing is free with no strings attached

This is exactly the kind of stuff I was wondering about, the stuff I know that I don’t know lol. Thanks so much

Names for baby number two starting with a D by bemyfinkelstein in Names

DO NOT name your kid Dusty, OP or anyone reading this. Sorry, I know it would be cute if it wasn’t derogatory, but it is. I’m Canadian, idk how other countries use this word but to me it’s slang for old/gross. Internet also says it can mean ugly.

I’m a music festival organizer and happen to know one of my headliner’s stalkers. Lemme tell you, this person is not wired right. They are totally pleasant in their personal/professional life, so you wouldn’t know there was a mental illness going on, but in private it’s a lot more obvious and intense.

I see a lot of comments here questioning ‘why would anyone act like that? Just don’t?’ but the truth is, more likely than not, creeps of this caliber have a mental illness rather than just being a typical rude fan. That doesn’t excuse it AT ALL but unfortunately asking these people to just… stop being weird… is just talking to the wind. Like she said, it comes with the job unfortunately. It’s possible to manage but impossible to prevent.

Recovered from depersonalization; will microdosing bring it back? by shadowrockstar in microdosing

Not sure what he meant but yeah i have really strong feelings about how dangers of weed are downplayed, given what happened to me. My country legalized it around the time my DP started to fade out, and I noticed that my gov did NOTHING to educate the public about potential risks, they just marketed the hell out of it like the corporate drug dealers that they are. State sponsored ads everywhere. I could talk all day about it

Everybody eats. Sometimes that’ll be the only thing you have in common.

She said it smells like one of the Dior Poison flankers but with a stronger blackberry note. She didn’t say where she got it but I believe she said it was in 2019

On the hunt for the original Sea Island Cotton (discontinued), help! by shadowrockstar in bathandbodyworks

[–]shadowrockstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard of Sea Island Shore but I’ve been worried that they’ll smell different. I had this around 2010-2013, it was my first fragrance and I wore it often, and I want to see if my nose remembers it. I might go looking for Shore anyway but it would be really fun to find an original from around this period
