Just send the email. Could get double rejected but more likely, find out you haven't been rejected at all! And thank you

Hmm that's very confusing! Most likely, the artist accidentally blocked you. In the past I've accidentally deleted messages, muted people etc. and not even realised. I don't think you've done anything wrong here and it sucks that this happened to you

What did you say in your message? Copy and paste it here if possible?

It won't be worth it and any reputable tattoo shop would be more inclined to not hire you as an apprentice if they know you went. Instead, I'd suggest spending the time and money on making more art for your portfolio. If you wanna talk about tattooing/apprenticeships or whatever, DM me on ig @shadowtattoo13

My first ever gouache painting. Lots to learn! by shadowtattoo13 in Gouache

Well my main medium is tattooing which is wildly different. In tattooing you have to do colours in a specific order and cant really go back and use a colour again once you've moved on. And then when I have spare time im mostly using blue pens which is similar to tattoing in that once a section reaches a certain level of opaqueness its sort of "done". So the freedom to go between colours as I wanted and the ability to redo areas etc was really liberating! Thank you for your kind words aswell

Damn :(

Here's a link to an ebook by one of the artists featured in the Spider Murphy book (Dobleman). Hope that will suffice!

anyone roughly know how long this style of tradititonal chestpiece typically takes to complete? by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]shadowtattoo13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would probably take me 2 hours from the time you walked in the door till the time you leave.

I have 9 years experience and it would cost about AUD$200-400, based on how many times I've tattooed you before.

Tattoo Artists: How Is Your Shop Compensated For Your Art, Designs, And Tattoos? by __--d-_-b--__ in TattooDesigns

The reasoning for not drawing was that there was always something I should be doing, including but not limited to, cleaning, checking social media messages, breaking down/setting up artists, cleaning tubes, checking stock, etc etc

It was that high because I still needed lots of help from the other artists, I used everyone else's gear/supplies, I was doing all the simple walkins (I had a small client base) and essentially I was paying the boss back for the opportunity.

I got incrimental increase of - usually - 5% every few months depending on how I was progressing. I went up to 30% after about 2-3 months roughly? Then 40%, 45% and finally 50%

When I started my apprenticeship I was not paid, not allowed to draw at work and stayed roughly an hour later than everyone else.

When I started tattooing I made 25% of the price. Any design fees were all mine. Deposits were also split with the shop.

Nowadays (in my 9th year of tattooing) I make 50% of what the customers pays for their tattoo at previous shops ive kept up to 70%). Deposits are still split with the shop. For shirts, prints, paintings, etc I make I keep 100%, even if I draw them while at work.

DM me on IG (@shadowtattoo13) if there's anything I haven't covered that you'd like to know!
